Google Threatens to Kill Open Source YouTube Front-End Invidious for Letting You Watch Videos without Tracking or Ads
Invidious is well known as a privacy-first platform to watch YouTube videos without ads or tracking. Now Google wants it to shut down.Tutanota
They've gotten so brazen about it. Shit like this - the #Microsoft #Edge browser routing every image through some "AI enhancer" that also tracks what you're viewing - is now a default setting. I suppose at least people who use Edge can opt out, for now, if they know to.
We need #privacy legislation so badly.

Edge sends images you view online to Microsoft, here is how to disable that
Microsoft Edge has many convenient features to improve your browsing experience. However, some of those features raise privacy concerns. One, for example, sends images you view directly to Microsoft.Taras Buria (Neowin)

“We should ban doors!” 🚫🚪
Sometimes criminals hide weapons under their clothes.
“We should ban clothes!” 🚫👖
🙃
Do not fall for these misguided arguments.
Most of the time people use end-to-end encrypted apps to talk about the most mundane things.
Sometimes vulnerable people use end-to-end encryption to protect themselves and stay safe.
We should keep and cherish encryption.
We should demand it everywhere.
End-to-end encryption protects our human right to privacy and safety.
We must fight for it! ✊🔒

have a unique perspective on the before and after world.
We use (and build) them now, but we grew up without IoT, without social media, without "smart" phones. When cameras were big and privacy was some sort of the default.
We have an important responsibility to fight for privacy rights so that younger generations will also know the freedom given by these rights.
We cannot let society
make them think this is normal and that nothing else is possible.
We must fight for #privacy for them too ✊🔒

Or do you want pretend safety?
