Last of yesterday's #catober pages. This one was fun to do, but also I could feel myself being strongly pulled to doing pretty flat shape based drawing reproducing the references without really understanding their forms in space, in other words without really knowing what I was doing.

I could do this all day and enjoy myself a lot, but I would not be learning much from it, and would be no wiser trying to draw cats from imagination afterwards.

#catober day 3 yesterday. started again by mapping my notknowing, then followed along with the first cat lesson by Joe Weatherly on NMA. Then I tried to apply that first helping of rough anatomical info to some of my sketches from the day before. Last I made a bunch more sketches from ref, and again made some attempts at very rudimentary anatomical analysis.

My first attempt at recording when I'm sketching with a ballpoint pen. I couldn't say that I was relaxed enough when I started recording, as I had problems with video, focus, camera shake, light, saving the recording, resolution, etc. But it was a first test and I'm sharing it for curiosity. Goal: To record a drawing class and post it on my main channel.

@cookie_mumbles Hey, yes: in short, it trains the way i imagine things precisely before drawing them. It's frustrating, challenging and quickly reveals if i know a volume or (as often) NOT 🤭. If i can imagine it fully and hold it in memory while tracing it.

My next step is to learn more body parts and how to magnet my volumes to an imaginary perspective grid (cause i'm still bad at it and often fallback to isometry).

Eg: photo under, training on✌️hands.

I train myself to draw directly with ballpen while traveling (a lot of transport this week, for personnal reasons). Hard exercice, but full of good lessons. I want to practice more that way.
