I just discovered Arcmage, a free and open source self-described collectible card game inspired by Magic: The Gathering. Not sure about the "collectible" part because you can buy the full card sets (5 extensions of 50 cards have been published).

I present the first named release of the Friendica mobile/desktop client: Relatica. It is still very much a work in progress but I'm going to start opening it up for beta usage (early beta). For iOS that will mean me letting up to 100 people into the inside testing team (Apple's limit). For the other platforms I'll be posting binaries/packages/install instructions for Android, Linux, macOS, and Windows in the coming days as well. I also setup a Relatica Matrix room for interactive discussions with me and other users. The README on the GitLab repo will have all those sorts of details. I have been largely keeping out of the debate about #fediverse “governance”. As someone who has participated in OSS governance systems I see the value of them and I do think a #fediverse foundation could be a good idea. More importantly I think now that the overall #activitypub system is being used so much more there will be a need to revise and extend the protocol and for that we will need @w3c activity (workshop / working group).

when I click a #Fediverse post link in #Firefox it opens in @Fedilab Apps, but it only works to load the post if a Mastodon account is selected and not if a Friendica account is active.

How can we trouble shoot this? @Fedilab Apps what does #Fedilab do with such a link, which API call does it perform to retrieve the post?

The problem as I see it is very much not the information or technology itself, but the very real ways in which corporations have poured billions of dollars into hijacking the #brain. I have spent the last two days working on making good quality SVG versions of the logo/symbols for #fediverse projects and I feel like it was worth it. I think the hard/less fun part of this project is getting them out there for all to use. I am pretty unfamiliar with submitting to Wikimedia Commons that is probably the best place for them to all live

@PhenomX6I loathe being compelled to visit a third party site when I'm doing #Fediverse stuffs, but when it comes to audio and videos, #Soapbox is one of the most capable of all Fediverse server platforms.

I can post a link to a podcast or song on a #FunkWhale server for example, and play it right here without ever having to leave my Gleasonator account - it handled such media better than pretty much any other platform, and even those that do accommodate in site viewing, Soapbox is much much prettier.

When it comes to YouTube, however, a trick i picked up in #Matrix, that also works in Soapbox, is to simply run it through a sanitizer like #Invidious.

Then i can play the video inside Soapbox.

This is handled automagically with #Fedilab if you're posting to a Soapbox Pub server.

By default, Mastodon has a 500 character limit for posts.

However, you may have seen posts with more than 500 characters.

This is possible because Mastodon is just one type of server on the Fediverse. Many of the accounts you interact with on here may be using different server types with different character limits.

For example, there are modified "forked" versions of Mastodon such as Glitch (https://glitch-soc.github.io/docs/) and Hometown (https://github.com/hometown-fork/hometown) which allow server admins to easily change the character limits.

There are also completely different kinds of servers such as Friendica (https://friendi.ca) which have much larger default limits.

Because the Fediverse uses a common technical standard for communication, different kinds of servers talk to each other seamlessly, and you won't necessarily notice which server types people use. (I'm on a server running Glitch Mastodon, which is how this post can be so long.)

Do you also picket your local independent cafe and mom and pop stores? What happens if you succeed in shutting them down? That’s right, you end up with a McDonald’s in their place.

Please learn to separate capitalists from folks trying to survive under capitalism. Independent people trying to pay their rent isn’t advertising, it’s existing. What Coca-Cola does is advertising.

@Angle I do not share your worry. Most of the #Twitter experience is summed up by having access to all the people all the time, and this was only possible because of the centralized nature of the platform. You simply can't recreate the same paradigm on the #Fediverse for network structure reasons. Not even on mastodon.social that now gets routinely defederated, cutting into the access some people crave.
