Re-inventing the federated wheel because you don't know that wheels exist

This one goes out to recently arrived or aspiring Twitter refugees

I got tired of forgetting where the #RSS / #Atom #feeds are on various #Fediverse platforms and having to track them down, so I started a list.

https://hyperborea.org/tech-tips/fediverse-feeds/

Currently covers *deep breath* #Mastodon, #Bookwyrm, #Funkwhale, #GoToSocial, #Lemmy, #Misskey & forks, #Pleroma & forks #PeerTube, #Pixelfed, #Plume, #Snac2, #Takahe, and #WriteFreely

*whew*

Feel free to let me know what I should add to the list (or any corrections I need to make) in a reply to this post!

#Medium – the proprietary, #SiliconValley equivalent of free and open #fediverse app #WriteFreely, by the #billionnaire co-founder of #Twitter – now has a #Mastodon server.

It might be a good time to take a look at WriteFreely (https://writefreely.org/) and their hosted services Write.as (https://write.as/) and WriteFreely Host (https://writefreely.host/) and consider owning your own #blog on the fediverse instead of contributing to the walled gardens of the folks who bequeathed you Twitter.

We're now our own fiscal host on Open Collective, especially since https://Musing.Studio, @matt's one-person company, has always backed the project.

If you want to support #WriteFreely and help us get to v1.0, this is the best place to do it: https://opencollective.com/writefreely

Anything you can give on a one-time or recurring basis is very much appreciated!

help me to understand! As far as I see "write.as" was/is a hosted service with no open source code or commmunity install, then they have released "#writefreely" as the server hostable by anyone, so "writeas" never have been a #communityServer (and there is ony one writeas, the #commercial one; it was/is a closed source company hosted #AP compatible service.)
That is what I have believed.
(Maybe there could be a list of commercial AP compatible #closedSource services...)

The "search" field is magical: it can look up remote users or services, too!
For example one can follow a #writefreely #blog by searching for the "user" it's publishing on, like @globally-echoing-notes
It works because that service offers an AP compatible protocol.

#writefreely had rather broken AP support, but nevertheless.

My latest composition is the third in a series of Bachian plagiarisms ^_^'

It's available in two versions:

https://youtu.be/M2c19rWI9FE with subtitles and special effects

and

https://youtu.be/pf262Anu3Ec

in its original form, produced with #Povray.

Details on how to add the special effects are available through this post https://noblogo.org/eidon/plagio-bachiano-no

The tool I used is called txt2srt and is available here: https://gitlab.com/Eidonko/txt2srt/

Write Freely is a writing platform on the Fediverse, sort of like a Fedi version of Medium.

It lets you write long form texts on the Fediverse, and people can follow your Write Freely account, so they see your latest posts.

The official site is at https://writefreely.org, you can also follow them at @writefreely

You can find instances to sign up on at https://writefreely.org/instances

There are apps available at https://writefreely.org/apps

If you are techy, there's instructions for self-hosting an instance at https://writefreely.org/start

If you aren't techy, you can still make your own Write Freely instance by using https://writefreely.host

@pixelfed I have one question I don't see to find the answer for: Am I allowed to, or isn't it rude, or could it even be supported that I link to a specific image of a post instead of the post, actualyl to use it in a, say, #writefreely article as image link?
