This is the thing; I cannot find this folder on my #Vultr server. There is an `/opt/pleroma` folder, is that where I look? Looks like I may have missed something post installation as my admin account is no different when it comes to the web interface than a regular user account.

🙂

Some basic info about the Fediverse and how it works from a point of view of a non-fanatic user. ;-)

The "search" field is magical: it can look up remote users or services, too!
For example one can follow a #writefreely #blog by searching for the "user" it's publishing on, like @globally-echoing-notes
It works because that service offers an AP compatible protocol.

Fun fact: no point writing an introduction unless you already have followers: most people will never see it, unless they go to your home server.

There are no #public posts. 🥺
Posts are sent only to the people following you (plus your local server community which may be a few people or a lot, it depends on where you are), nobody else.
People wanting to follow you cannot see your old posts either.
The system is basically "subscribers only", that's "federation".

This may be a stupid #newbie question, but why are all the #fediverse servers I've seen all on these newfangled domains like rootintootin.social and yepthisismy.identity and none seem to be on anything old school like thisistotallynotevil.com?

Is it just a thing, or is there a secret fediverse blacklist committee out there?

#fediverse #question #newbie
Is it possible to have closed/private groups to share interests and ideas and organise ourselves? Or is that an add on thing through a different platform?
Am loving the fediverse experience so far. The more familiar I get with how it works the more awesome it is!!!
