Frage | Friendica: Fehlende Bezüge
Ich hatte eben unten stehenden Austausch und frage mich da natürlich ob mir irgendwelche Informationen fehlen bzw. ob es bei Mastodon Bezüge gibt die ich so nicht sehe.
Wäre schon interessant zu erfahren ob man da mit Mastdon mehr sieht.

I have noticed some strange behavior and would like to confirm it here if anyone experienced it too.
When you create post, that waits for federating to servers and edit it before it reaches #Mastodon server (not sure if it happens to other #Fediverse instances too), then the post never reaches target instance (or target instance rejects it?)
Is it just me, or it's some kind of bug (or expected behavior)?

You can't add more people into already existing posts. They won't be able to display it nore get notifications.
(if that ever existed)
You can deactivate/delete mentions, the profile won't get notifications of updates but still can see or search those toots.

Almost everyone who says "Mastodon didn't work for me" on Bluesky seems to have posted only "me me me" stuff for months (if that) on Mastodon, followed about 10-20 people, never replied to anyone and then gave up because "nobody there, it didn't fly".
It seems there is a big misunderstanding how this free and healthy social media works. We are not here for the easy wins, likes, shares and dopamine spikes. We are here because we accept the fact we are not part of the commercial hype machine. We choose natural engagement over spoiling algorithms, we choose conversation and meaning in our social media. At least that is how I see it.

Just read a phenomenal upshot that #Mastodon doesn't have enough celebrities, nor an addictive algorithm, so that's why it isn't "bigger"... It was phrased as a complaint, but I'm running with it all the way to the other goal post:

@harry haller yes, you basically say that Disapora should be centralised, otherwise there is no "public stream".
Same thing goes for everything "federated" like #mastodon: small instances get zero traffic and visibility, so decentralisation equals segmentation and disarray. 🙁

Constantly hearing ”got tired of Mastodon’s technicalities, Bluesky is simple and amazing”.
How we could design Mastodon to be more simple and have less technical-feel to it? UI is one thing, but that will not cut it all. I have probably said this before, but I am starting to believe no matter what we do we can’t ”win”. The narrative might need to change. 🤷♂️
Can we please have a setting in the administrator panel to set the character limit for a Mastodon instance?
The current lack of such a setting does nothing apart from create a two-tier fediverse where folks who have the time to maintain their own Mastodon fork and folks who use other ActivityPub servers can write as much as they like whereas everyone else is limited to 500 characters. We’re not kids; make the option accessible and let instance owners decide for themselves.

At long last, beamship is LIVE!!! Thank you ALL. It was a DNS resolution error, was using our internal DNS 😭 so, THAT has a problem to... Next problem is the email system.

Ah, okay, the app doesn't register itself...
Usually a #Mastodon app registers itself as an app on the instance and then obtain a token through a user login.
Then the question would be, does #Friendica allow to create manually an app and then an user token...
As i just set up a #Friendica instance last year for testing, i can't answer this from my mind...
