Hi old school video nerds:
I use (PAL) analogue+"obselete" equipment such as video mixers, amiga, tube+dv cameras, whatevers lying around to make music videos.
I capture video with a ADVC 300 with firewire on a win 7 pc. It's stable. I have tried various USB2+3 capture cards/HDMI converters Elgato capture boxes on win10 and found them glitchy/lower quality/framedropping etc
Is there anything modern that has the quality and stability to capture composite video that I can use with a new laptop (usb3 I guess) before I continue capturing video with my old method? I did see some Roland stuff like the VR4HD captured n streamed composite but its a bit pricey and only has one composite input and loads of HDMI ones which I don't need.
Also sadly my Fairlight CVI video synth broke last year and I haven't found anyone with the expertise to fix it...It's niche but no harm in asking if there's anyone who knows something bout em

We have updated our Peertube to version 7! Lots of cool stuff - read more here.
But the most important for us is the visual aspect. Now we are using the main and default and much improved Peertube themes (Dark/Light) with very very minimal changes (maybe 5 lines of CSS).
No more broken UI, no more being unable to have a proper dark theme, no headaches with every Peertube updated. They have made an awesome theme and we will go with that.
We need to promote this platform more often and I ask people to try and be a bit more brave ;) and prioritize Peertube. Post there like we do. Sure you may get less views, but you are growing a trade-free (saner) platform, and thus saner minds that do not have to be exposed to the tsunami of ads that Youtube infects every viewer with.
Congrats @PeerTube for doing an amazing job!

This means huge amounts of rare or unique #video is about to disappear from #YouTube as accounts get flagged as inactive, such as when the user dies. Families' #HomeMovies (often posted by an older relative for their family's benefit), historical footage, rare #television clips, etc. What an incalculable loss to human #history and culture!
If there are videos important to you on someone else's video channel, find a way to download them. And if you have rare #media of historical importance, consider leaving it to institutional #archives or lending it to archives for digital preservation.

Handling video with Friendica
today i was about to upload #video to my #friendica account , but figured no possible way to do this.
When i'm about to upload file, i get "bad request". I also did not found the way to upload it into "files section".
Embedding from #youtube also does not work for me.
Is there any way to use video in posts in friendica at this moment?
