Is it weird that some #ActivityPub implementations don't seem to comply with the standard as thoroughly as others? E.g., #Friendica's outboxes return no "Create" activities, listing posts directly instead. #Funkwhale returns Activity Streams objects only on GET requests with "accept" set to 'application/activity+json', but the header which is mandatory to support is 'application/ld+json; profile="https://www.w3.org/ns/activitystreams"'. Also, no implementation treats likes as discussed in the docs. #Fediverse

I needed to configure in the Twitter Developers platform the OAuth 1.0a access with reading, writing, and Direct message permission; I recreated the secrets, reconnected, and now it works. The free open source livestreaming platform OwnCast has set up a demo server at:

It currently runs a loop of videos by people who self-host their livestreams using OwnCast, along with short videos promoting other libre projects.

If you run a free open project and have a short video (under 1 minute), you can have it added to this loop by contacting @owncast.

OwnCast servers include Fediverse compatibility, so you can follow them from Mastodon etc. When a stream you follow goes live, you'll see a message telling you about it in your timeline.

Infected by the Fediverse Virus: How to connect all in Friendica?
Hi, I just gave up on connecting #Twitter because of their #ToC (I'm not planning anything exotic, but some of my activities seem to be incompatible with their politics; o.k., let's forget about the few hundred followers... maybe I just inform them where they can find me now..).

BUT: How can I integrate elegantly different #Fediverse accounts to my main (own) server? Currently, I use my own Friendica server (admin, mexico-pensante.net) a Friendica account at nerdica.net (thanks for hosting @Ingo Jürgensmann !!!), and a mastodon.social account.

Ideally, I want to use them all (and also future ones, maybe #PeerTube, #Pixelfed) from my main Friendica account, to avoid logging on/off, switching to different webpages, etc. Is there a solution already?

Help my mum get something out of the #fediverse
My mum uses Facebook currently because there's a few groups on it that she likes.

I'm no longer on it, and she's joined the #fediverse (on my instance) but I'm struggling to find replacement groups.

So, does anyone know any good #fedi #groups/instances focused on #gardening, #mushroom / #fungi identification, #wildlife in general, wildlife in the UK, etc.?

Please don't @ her (she doesn't yet fully understand how this stuff works, and isn't looking for people to contact her out of the blue). Hence why I'm looking for groups or instances that I can point her at the local timelines of. Then she can control her own interactions with them.

She's fluent in #German and #English.

But please do @ me with any info.

For new people wondering why Mastodon is on thousands of servers instead of one:

-It helps protect us all against Elon Musk scenarios. It's very difficult for anyone to buy a network made of thousands of independently owned servers. (It's the same reason why no one owns the world's email network, because there are so many independent providers out there.)

-If your server misbehaves (or sells out to a malevolent billionaire), you can move your account to a different server, or even to a brand new server. Decentralisation means you're never trapped on a site you hate.

-Mastodon is an open platform where anyone can start their own server, and they don't need tech knowledge if they use a service like https://masto.host or https://federation.spacebear.ee

...and there are lots more good reasons too, to do with servers using alternative Fediverse software etc, but I'll save that for a future post 😁
