I got tired of forgetting where the #RSS / #Atom #feeds are on various #Fediverse platforms and having to track them down, so I started a list.

https://hyperborea.org/tech-tips/fediverse-feeds/

Currently covers *deep breath* #Mastodon, #Bookwyrm, #Funkwhale, #GoToSocial, #Lemmy, #Misskey & forks, #Pleroma & forks #PeerTube, #Pixelfed, #Plume, #Snac2, #Takahe, and #WriteFreely

*whew*

Feel free to let me know what I should add to the list (or any corrections I need to make) in a reply to this post!

What fediverse service can you recommend (because you had good experience with) for federating longer articles (eg newsletter style) to Mastodon to avoid threads? Should feature:
- comments
- user handles

What I found out:
1. Wordpress ActivityPub-Plugin can't interpret/link user handles.
2. WriteFreely articles are only appearing as headline and link on Mastodon.

Looking for your experiences with and links to long federated articles from eg. #Plume, #Pleroma, #Friendica, #Hubzilla, #Misskey.

Frage zur Funktionalität von Foren für verschiedene Fediverse-Dienste

@Friendica Support
Ich habe ein öffentliches Forum erstellt, also einen Account mit diesen Einstellungen:

Dabei bin ich nach dieser Anleitung vorgegangen:
https://wiki.friendi.ca/docs/forums

Upgraded from #pleroma BE to #rebased today, but haven't received any statuses for a few hours. Sending also didn't seem to work. For now I've restored a snapshot, but I am now again missing out on those nice features. Is there any documentation on how to troubleshoot Federation/why my messages are not working? @alex

To #GlitchSocial, #Akkoma, #Pleroma users.

Where can we find common API endpoints and specific API documentation?

We would like to support some custom features with #Fedilab

We created that thread. Your help is welcome. Thank you.

@alex Today i find out having problem with #Pleroma / #Soapbox to find or follow #Pixelfed accounts. In search i can find "some" accounts to follow, but most of them just doesn't show up even by searching direct profile link... Do you know something about this?

Hello FBI I'd like to report a crime Pleroma is attempting to extort me, they refuse to let my wife and 2 children go unless I bear false witness to acquit a human trafficking ring at a military base, the sheriff and my psychiatrist are involved #itsalwayspleroma #pleroma #introductions #introduction #truecrime #art #funny #comedy #reddit #politics #elonmusk #mastodon

Over time I wouldn’t be shocked if #rebased completely replaced #Pleroma and #Akkoma

But if I do enable it in config.exs #pleroma refuses to start with:

https://pastebin.com/CUKHvHnK

Sadly I don't think I'm going to be able to continue to run #Soapbox. At least not integrated into #Pleroma (now #Akkoma).

Soapbox insists on having the #config be in the #database but when that's set Pleroma/Akkoma refuses to start.

Anyways, too tired right now to mess with it. Will have to look into it more tomorrow.

Can anyone direct me to a comprehensive explanation of how/what posts show up on a an instance's federated timeline?

Particularly, I'm referring to an #Akkoma instance, but I wonder if the mechanism is similar for all #ActivityPub servers.

#Admin #MastoAdmin #MastodonAdmin #FediAdmin #Pleroma

The question is, what is the context? Ie, explaining to people on Twitter, I say "find me on #Mastodon". Yes I know they can follow me with #Friendica or #Pleroma but "find me on the #Fediverse" doesn't name a concrete thing and that's going to be confusing. If I'm on Pleroma or Friendica I will probably already understand I can interact with Mastodon.

That said, I do want to make sure people know the Fediverse is much more than Mastodon. The question is: when and how to introduce that?

Not sure if I did something wrong, but my installation of #Soapbox with #Pleroma backend went surprisingly smoothly, uncanny really. Thanks a million for the documentation. Wondering if I should have used #Docker but the whole thing was so fast that I did not have to do anything. So far things are happy for my little server, :-)🙂

@alex@soapbox

does the - Managing relays - rubric in Admin FE also work with Rebased?

#soapbox #pleroma

@alex

Hello Alex,
I have a question about Soapbox. I hope you can help me. Currently I have Pleroma 2.4.4 installed. Here I have the problem that older posts from other instances are not loaded. Is there this problem with rebase / soapbox also?
Is there a possibility to switch from Pleroma to Rebase? Unfortunately I have not found any instructions for this. Many greetings

#pleroma #soapbox #rebase

Dear @p
@alex

What do you think of letting #Rebased #Pleroma become an OAuth2 authentication provider for other websites for people who don't own the instance and want to make a bot for example. It's a pain to get the id and secret for a utility like an RSS bot so that it can post.

A user posted this idea on my Reddit:
"Neither Pleroma nor Rebased offer an app creation interface. In Mastodon users can create apps in the settings. But Pleroma & Rebased users can't. Only admins can create a new app via terminal. Really annoying. Most of us are tech users and need this app development feature for client to server apps, e.g for making bots. How they don't add such a basic interface allowing to create new apps? Interesting. Here's a related issue. This is why I still have to use Mastodon."

@alex
Can you please advise what's the best way to find out user counts on #Soapbox? Also, how to disable/enable new account creation on an instance that runs #Pleroma with #Soapbox?

Don’t know. I will find out I guess. This lives on a tiny server running #Pleroma. I really like #Soapbox front end, @alex has done an amazing job. I am still learning a lot everyday, 🙂

The part I like about hosting my own server is the freedom and flexibility. I can ‘watch the world go by’ from my own instance. Follow whoever I want to follow.

How about setting up your own instance on a server such as #Vultr and use a lightweight app such as #Pleroma and use a skin such as #Soapbox to administer it?

When feeling sad, this will cheer you up:

Pleroma is the future, Ruby on Rails (#Mastodon) is nearly obsolete, & the #Rebased fork of #Pleroma is up-and-coming!

On my account @earthquake I got a notification that I was mentioned on this post, there I can see a small @ symbol in the top of the post, but no visible mention. Is that some kind of BCC that #Pleroma does?

We've been getting requests on how to get popular on the #fediverse so we decided to interview some of the most popular fedizens to learn their skills so you too can be #FediFamous
Here are their answers:

"share funny memes, interact with (most) who interact with you, be gay, and you too can become a niche micro internet celebrity"
"Hate computer, post funnies, simple as"
"post cock pics. No, post ball pics"
"post memes"
"Meta, post meta."
"Hmmmm It think that by having presence.
Like certainty of your personality
Like no one can be
[REDACTED]Or no one else could be or post like
[REDACTED]People that are memorable are the people that get most follows"

"Cumposting"
And what do these all have in common? The word POST. That's right the best and ultimate way to get the most out of the fediverse is to post and post lots.

The more you post the more likely people will find you and engage with you. So goodluck and get your e-clout

#FediTips#Clout#Mastodon#Pleroma#Misskey

Yep.

The goal of #Mastodon was, appeal to old ex #Twitter users. Success.

#Pleroma, appeal to nerds. Success.

#Soapbox, appeal to new ex #Twitter users. Success.

Of course all the software is still approaching their goals at varying speeds, but they're honestly largely complete. If you left the software alone for five years it'd all probably be fine.

📋#Poll time!📋
How tech smart is the average fedizen? See if you can answer the question below:

Your #pleroma instance is not receiving deactivate and reactivate activities correctly; meaning a remote user who has been suspended or unsuspended on one instance may not be shown as such on yours.

What is the best way to approach and solve this problem?

is there a tool that can be used to delete #pleroma posts from before a certain date and would this be a good or bad idea? I've thoight about even doing this manually before for at least posts that have no interactions from others but I'm not sure if it may have unwanted results somehow.

Don’t forget that you can test #Soapbox against #Mastodon and #Pleroma backends by going to https://fe.soapbox.pub/ and pointing it at your site

For my #hugo theme's social media bar I wanted to add monochrome #fediverse icons. I didn't find a good central place for them so I created one here. I'd be more than happy to add ones that I've missed but so far have #diaspora #mastodon #friendica #funkwhale #gnusocial #Hubzilla #misskey #Peertube #pixelfed #pleroma #SocialHome #foss #opensource #creativecommons https://gitlab.com/HankG/fediverse-icons
