Good management is hard to find, especially in FOSS
Majority of developers are bad at management, don't believe me? Just check their unfinished projects directory.
lol true. They can't manage themselves let alone others.
I think this situation is specifically about vision. What do you want the project to be? That needs to be clear. Then contributors know if their contributions fit and they can be rejected gracefully if they don't

Rejecting patches because "TERFS" or whatever ridiculous excuse is petty and dumb.
> What do you want the project to be?
In this case they have no vision according to Alex. Honestly it seems like a software in maintanence mode since many people were complaining that no features are added for over a year.
Yep.

The goal of #Mastodon was, appeal to old ex #Twitter users. Success.

#Pleroma, appeal to nerds. Success.

#Soapbox, appeal to new ex #Twitter users. Success.

Of course all the software is still approaching their goals at varying speeds, but they're honestly largely complete. If you left the software alone for five years it'd all probably be fine.
