Dude @alex after #rebased upgrade, all profile's avatars and headers cached images are 404. Must be re-uploaded for real? Files are still there 🤔

Yep! So #Soapbox was originally a fork of #Gab which was a fork of #Mastodon. It eventually was rebuilt by forking #Pleroma and retaining the existing #Soapbox frontend, and now the #rebased backend and #Soapbox (the frontend) have been split apart, with (IIRC) the intention of #Soapbox being a multipurpose frontend that can be used with different #Fediverse software, and #rebased being a lightweight #Fediverse backend software.

You can visit fe.soapbox.pub to check out #Soapbox and try the software with your instance! It works quite well with #Mastodon and #Pleroma especially, I can't remember if it supports #Misskey at all.

#Mastodon has been perfect so far. But my main is on #rebased, not #Mastodon, so support for both is important to me.

Anyone get #rebased to work behind docker?
I've got the database connected and the admin account setup, but I keep getting an error that says I need to migrate the config to use the db.
changing config :pleroma, configurable_from_database: true seems to do nothing.

@alex Since you're the dev of #Rebased, we need your help.

rojogato.com switched from Akkoma to Rebased as the backend, but is still using Akkoma-FE. Local-only posts don't seem to be working (an Akkoma feature, however they still work in the Public Timeline), and neither do quote posts.

Since Akkoma has features that rebased doesn't, the Akkoma frontend might have some incompatibility with Rebased.

So can you please add support for Local-only posts in #Soapbox+Rebased, an Akkoma style Bubble timeline, and give Rebased better compatibility with alternative frontends like Akkoma-FE?

Updated instance to #Soapbox and #Rebased v3.0.0 develop branch

Upgraded from #pleroma BE to #rebased today, but haven't received any statuses for a few hours. Sending also didn't seem to work. For now I've restored a snapshot, but I am now again missing out on those nice features. Is there any documentation on how to troubleshoot Federation/why my messages are not working? @alex

@alex (or someone), So I’m following about 22 people in my instance of which only 3 are bots. How come I happen to see more posts of these pots more frequently than the ‘humans’ I’m following in my timeline? I recall when on Mastodon, it was chronological - yes, it’s chronological here too- but I never missed out on the posts of the people I’m following. Just trying to understand how it works with #Rebased #following #follow

@alex I have a couple questions for #Soapbox and #Rebased:

1. If I use Rebased on my server, can I continue to use Pleroma-FE as my primary frontend (or switch to another in the future)?

2. I'm using fe.soapbox.pub on my Pleroma instance (2.4.1). How do I set Verified checkmarks or any extra badges (such as "Based") on a profile?

Is this a broken #soapbox installation @alex@gleasonator.com or a bug? #Rebased is showing 404 error in #browser console when visiting empty #trends status page while other blank pages do not. For new installs, here's the page with error: https://www.example.com/api/v1/trends/statuses

Over time I wouldn’t be shocked if #rebased completely replaced #Pleroma and #Akkoma

What do you think of letting #Rebased #Pleroma become an OAuth2 authentication provider for other websites for people who don't own the instance and want to make a bot for example. It's a pain to get the id and secret for a utility like an RSS bot so that it can post.

A user posted this idea on my Reddit:
"Neither Pleroma nor Rebased offer an app creation interface. In Mastodon users can create apps in the settings. But Pleroma & Rebased users can't. Only admins can create a new app via terminal. Really annoying. Most of us are tech users and need this app development feature for client to server apps, e.g for making bots. How they don't add such a basic interface allowing to create new apps? Interesting. Here's a related issue. This is why I still have to use Mastodon."

So far very happy with the @soapbox FE - I think it may be worth switching to the #Rebased (previously Soapbox BE) backend as well.
@alex - are there any pitfalls I should watch out for when converting a Pleroma BE to Rebased? Or will a database migrate more or less do the job?

Is #rebased a #Soapbox fork?

I'm unable to locate the settings in #Rebased#Soapbox to add new #crypto coins and associated #explorer to the existing list. Couldn't find any documentation either. What's the best way to modify and add to the current list? @alex@gleasonator.com

Does #Rebased#Soapbox have internal point system (see screenshot)? Users can gain or lose points with specific actions on the #fediverse along with widget showing active point leaders. Thoughts on this @alex@gleasonator.com
