diaspora* hotfix release 0.7.18.1


We just released diaspora* version 0.7.18.1 which fixes an issue when multiple bundler versions were available that results in diaspora* being unable to start.

Updating


Podmins who already run 0.7.18.0 without issues don't need to update (but feel free to do anyway). For podmins still on older version, it fixes some possible issues when updating. Update instructions are available as usual in the wiki.

If you are a user not running your own pod, there is nothing you need to do!

@Roland Häder Ah, thanks for that, but I'm not really seeing hard _errors_ here. It's a bit odd I guess: At first, I can only sign in to #friendica via GNUsocial, not Mastodon protocol because the OAuth client authentication doesn't seem to work with my webview for whichever reasons. Not sure whether or not this makes a difference, I have no idea whether the notifications provided via GNUSocial API are similar to / the same as those seen via Mastodon API. Maybe this is the first point to peek; my "main" issue here is that, in other Mastodon clients connected to Friendica, I also see mentions, personal messages, ... in my notification view. In #andstatus they apparently seem to pop up only in the global timeline _in some cases_ (except for notifications coming from #diaspora contacts?) and easily are lost.

(Complexity for the win.😶️)

Das einzige was mir spontan dazu einfällt is das ich die separate notifications _seite_ vermisse die #Diaspora* hat *seufz* ;)

Sone liste an notifications auf ner separaten seite is wesentlich praktischer wenn mensch einen ganzen haufen an notifications durchsehen will ggf (die letzten tage ging mein zähler gerne mal bis 20~30 hoch über nacht ;))

I understand why you like diaspora better than mastodon.

Today I noticed there are not many businesses in #Diaspora. It is a blessing, I know, but I think it is a curse, too.

I recall in the early 2010s how, as #Facebook allows companies to open "fan pages", businesses of every size gave those guys a lot of free advertising while they asked their clients to "follow them on Facebook".

This makes me ask myself a few things:
  • How welcoming would Diaspora users would be with business accounts? It is extremely easy to avoid spam by ignoring users on this social network. Would you give them a chance without frowning?
  • Facebook is dying (don't believe me, see it by yourself) so this could be a nice moment to promote Diaspora to others (just to see what happens, at the very least). Am I being naïve?
  • What if someone opened a pod for businesses in Diaspora, just as someone opened one for former Google+ users?
Some random thoughts. Let me know what you think.

Hatte erst einen Kaffee und bin maximal verwirrt. Es sieht für mich so aus, als ob einer meiner Kommentare von einem Diaspora-User geliked worden ist. Bislang bin ich davon ausgegangen, dass es dieses Feature unter #Diaspora nicht gibt und man dort nur den initialen Post liken kann, aber nicht Kommentare.

Weiß man da schon näheres?
