For technical reasons, forums aren't supported via the Diaspora protocol.

I don't think so.
Diaspora doesn't speak AP. And friendica speaks diaspora.
And if diaspora doesn't support forums/groups, it couldn't work before.

@Michael Vogel wrote a few days ago, he implemented groups in friendica strict following the protocol AP. So... maybe before AP friendica hat nothing like this? So there are no non-supporting-problems...

There had always been problems with how we transported these messages. This had been completely rewritten to make it more stable and reliable.
