“Dream Of Freedom” by Juandres Vera at 5 Pl. de Picardie in Boulogne-Sur-Mer, France for Street Art – Boulogne-sur-Mer.
Juandres Vera about his mural: When I read about the history of Boulogne-sur-Mer, different aspects resonated in my inspiration to try different composition paths: its importance for fishing, strategic situation for some wars, and even having been the birthplace of Esperanto.
However, one aspect influenced more than all the others, and that was the figure of the Argentine liberator José de San Martín.
Due to a series of historical disagreements, San Martín spent his last days in this city of Boulogne-sur-Mer where he died at the age of 72.
Beyond the historical role that José de San Martín played for Argentina, I was especially struck by how much he cared about the education of his daughter, so much so that he wrote the “Maxims for Merceditas.”
Years after his death, a monument was erected in his memory in this same city, an equestrian statue, which remained standing despite the multiple bombings that destroyed everything around it in both world wars and for which the legend of the miracle of the statue of José de San Martín was created.
From all the above came the idea for this wall: a female figure representing freedom, then I decided it would be a girl in association with the liberator’s daughter, and a paper boat made with an Argentine bill with the figure of the same procer which in turn represents the close connection of Boulogne-sur-Mer with the sea.
Finally, a cute Puffin was incorporated for which I still do not have a name, but many walkers asked me to give it one, can you help with suggestions in your comments?

This mural captures an intimate moment of exchange. A suffragette passing a living flame into the hands of a modern woman. The fire represents knowledge, resilience, and the ongoing struggle for justice and equity. The suffragette’s steady presence honors the women of Seneca Falls who fought to secure the right to vote, while the younger woman receives the flame with reverence and determination, carrying that light forward into a more inclusive future. Both figures rise from the water, a symbol of rebirth and the roots of Seneca Falls, where the first Women’s Rights Convention reshaped history. Her sash belongs to the past. Her buttons belong to the present. And the moths gather in remembrance, for everyone, who gave their life to the cause. Let’s keep the light burning for all.

“Itinerary” mural by RAST in Morlaix, France.
BIO: Rast is a self-taught artist from Yvelines (78). After spending his youth drawing in his notebooks, he began to tag at the age of 14. Two years later he embarked on lettering with the blaze he chose for himself: “For my blaze, I was inspired by my last name. And I like the letters that compose it”. Despite everything, he abandoned lettering fourteen years later and preferred to make realistic portraits. Rast works on the skin texture on his portraits, and never forgets his baroque frame. He is inspired by “faces of the world” during his travels for his creations.Photo by Christian Julia

Näutil: I am forwarding a project that I’ve released these days, made with paint and graffiti bomb on 3D pattern, the basic idea was to revitalize an abandoned place full of history: a world war 2 blockhaus, collapsed, almost lying on its side. At first it was about to humanize this place with some poetry: before, the eye of the soldiers were watching the dead coming from the sea, and now there is this big blue eye, looking at the life and moves coming from waves movements, talks and answers, interactions of two creations coming from man and nature… And then also I’ve wanted to point out the damage that may make human at some sites (into the pupil, the silhouette of the nuclear power plant from La Hague).

9. The Crooked House of Windsor — Windsor, England
The Crooked House of Windsor was originally built in 1592 and later demolished in 1687 to make way for the neighboring Guildhall. A legal dispute forced the council to rebuild it on the same spot. To complete the reconstruction quickly, they used green, unseasoned oak wood with a high moisture content. As the wood dried, it warped and buckled, leaving the building with its characteristic lean. Once known as Market Cross House, it has served many purposes over the centuries, including a butcher shop and a teahouse. Today, its tilted form remains one of Windsor’s most recognizable sights. These clever repairs show how creativity can restore more than just surfaces—it can change how we see the world around us. Whether with books, LEGO, thread, or tiles, these interventions prove that even damage can become part of a city’s beauty.

In the heart of Lyon, France, adorning the façade of a building, stands the magnificent Wall of the Silk Weavers (La Fresque des Canuts)
This enormous mural, painted in the trompe-l’oeil style, mesmerizes viewers with its hyperrealistic imagery and intricate details, offering a captivating glimpse into the everyday life of the La Croix-Rousse neighborhood.
Created by the talented group of mural painters known as CitéCréation, the mural first came to life in 1987 as a tribute to the neighborhood’s rich history. La Croix-Rousse once served as the bustling center of Lyon’s silk industry during the 19th century, earning it the nickname “the hill that works.” The mural, known as “Le Mur des Canuts,” pays homage to the silk weavers who resided and toiled in this vibrant community.
The mural captures the essence of the neighborhood’s past, featuring colorful buildings, pastel-hued high windows, a stone stairway, a charming Guignol theater, and, of course, a silk shop. Every detail is meticulously crafted to create a three-dimensional effect, seamlessly blending art with the architectural heritage of Lyon.
La Croix-Rousse’s silk industry may have diminished over time, but the mural stands as a testament to the resilience and determination of the silk workers who once rebelled against their oppressive working conditions in 1831. Their courageous spirit continues to echo through the vibrant streets of La Croix-Rousse.
Throughout the years, the mural has undergone two updates, in 1997 and 2013, reflecting the evolving landscape and spirit of the neighborhood. Today, it remains one of Europe’s largest displays of public art, drawing visitors from far and wide to admire its grandeur and immerse themselves in Lyon’s rich cultural heritage.
As you wander the streets of Lyon, be sure to seek out this awe-inspiring mural, marvel at its trompe-l’oeil mastery, and become enthralled by the story it tells. The Wall of the Silk Weavers is not just a painting; it is a living testament to the history, artistry, and indomitable spirit of La Croix-Rousse.

11. Flame Keepers — Mandi Caskey in Seneca Falls, New York
Mural by Mandi Caskey at 37 Fall Street in Seneca Falls, birthplace of the women’s rights movement in the United States. It shows two women passing a flame between their hands. The older woman wears a sash reading “1848 Vote for Women.” The background includes a crescent moon, clouds, and white butterflies.Mandi Caskey: Tribute to the enduring fight for women’s rights across generations.

By putting an eye on them, I try to bring them to life, give them a soul and give birth to a form of fantasy. Think about the mythical creature, the Cyclops, sporting a single eye in the center of its forehead. Now imagine seeing Cyclops-inspired art embedded in your everyday urban landscape! This is exactly what the French street artist, Le CyKlop, accomplishes with his witty, transformative art.
Hailing from the vivacious city of Paris, Le CyKlop’s affinity for street art was ignited during the flourishing graffiti culture of the 1980s. However, his fascination was not confined to the freedom and spontaneity of street art; he was captivated by the potential to transfigure the ordinary world into an extraordinary canvas.
“I try to break free from conventional supports such as walls or canvas, to invest in objects. By putting an eye on them, I try to bring them to life, give them a soul and give birth to a form of fantasy,” Le CyKlop explains. He further adds, “A playful and anthropomorphic art that borrows its artistic language from toys, comics or animal bestiary. By drawing on the history of the Cyclops, I revisiting Greek mythology.”
Rather than utilizing paint on a blank wall, Le CyKlop views everyday street fixtures, particularly the humble bollard, as unique canvases. These mundane posts, with a splash of paint and a sprinkle of imagination, transform into one-eyed creatures. Suddenly, these functional items, often overlooked, develop a life of their own, morphing into Cyclopean characters overseeing the city streets.
Each work by Le CyKlop is distinctive.
Some bollards wear a simplistic, single eye, while others are adorned with faces, topped with an array of hats, or other playful accessories. Yet they all share a common trait – a single, unblinking eye witnessing the world.
Le CyKlop’s artistry is not confined to Paris. His Cyclops have invaded streets worldwide, sprouting up in different countries and infusing a sense of whimsy wherever they make an appearance. His work challenges us to perceive our everyday environment in a new light, to unearth joy in the most unexpected places.
The visionary artist’s journey continues unabated. Le CyKlop plans to press ahead with his mission to metamorphose ordinary bollards into extraordinary pieces of art, radiating smiles and igniting curiosity in everyone who encounters his work.
Le CyKlop’s work underscores the transformative power of imagination. His one-eyed wonders encourage us to view the world with a playful spirit, to explore creativity, and to recognize the potential for art in our daily surroundings. So next time you’re out and about, stay alert – you might just encounter a Cyclops of your own!

“Serpent d’océan” by Huang Yong Ping is a 130 meter aluminum sea serpent skeleton sculpture in Saint Brevin near Nantes, France. Kids walk on it when the sea is back (ebb). And when the sea is up (flow), the snake looks as if it is alive and rising out of the water.
WIKI: Serpent d’océan is a monumental sculpture made of aluminum, 130 m long in total. It represents the skeleton of an immense imaginary sea serpent, whose vertebrae undulate to end in an open mouth. The work is installed at the tip of the Nez-de-Chien, in Mindin, in the territory of the commune of Saint-Brevin-les-Pins in the French département of Loire-Atlantique, at the limit where the Loire estuary joins the Atlantic Ocean. It spreads out over the foreshore area: the serpent’s tail is located at the low tide limit, its head at the high tide limit. The sculpture is therefore covered and uncovered at each tide: at low tide it is possible to walk around it, but only the head and the top of the vertebrae stick out at high tide. It is intended to be gradually invaded by vegetation and marine fauna.

Mountain lion mural by SATR at 10 Rue du Dr Hermite in Grenoble, France for Street Art Fest Grenoble Alpes. Photos by Andrea Berlese.
Satr: My draft concept is; A lot of things have happened in the past year, and each thing will have different answers in different positions. I drew a mountain lion. The flame is its consciousness. It ignites in front of it and surrounds it in a circle. I hope that anyone who sees this work will find a peaceful mood. Face these things calmly.
About SATR: She works and lives in Guangzhou (China) and has been doing street art since 2013. Her original spray painting atomization shape method makes her animals very dynamic, taking fog as the shape.
This is different from the realistic shaping of western oil painting, and deeply studies the permeability of graffiti spray paint, so that her works still have the charm of ink in addition to peeling off traditional Chinese painting tools.
SATR’s works can see the profound exuberance of western graffiti and the soft “XieYi “(traditional Chinese painting style in vivid expression and bold outline) brushwork of oriental painting, which runs through her works all the time. The signature of the ancient seal cutting style is the oriental imprint that she conveys to the outside world.

Le Point Millepages: What is the place of books in your home?
HERA: I have an apartment with high ceilings in which the living room also serves as my workshop. So when I entertain friends, we sit in my open kitchen where a huge bookcase takes up an entire wall. There are a lot of children’s books, and just as many books by photographers like Christina Mittermeier and Steve Mc Curry. They are a source of inspiration and I take them from apartment to apartment, like an essential part of who I am.
Le Point Millepages: Women you love to read?
HERA: Susanne Goga, German novelist, is single-handedly responsible for my renewed interest in the city in which I live, Berlin. Her series “LEO BERLIN” is full of historical glimpses when she tells the life of her hero Leo Wechsler, Commissioner for Crim ‘in the 1920s. I have as big a weakness for thrillers as for history. The combination of the two is therefore perfect for me! Mural by HERA of herakut in Vincennes, France. Photo by De La Couleur Sur Nos Murs.
Le Point Millepages: The book that changed your life?
HERA: There are many of them but one that I take in my luggage when I travel to paint is “Alibi School” by Jeffrey Mc Daniel. It’s a collection of poetry, and in fact, he gave it to me himself in 1997: I was 16 and I was on a school exchange at Venice High School in Los Angeles. Jeffrey had been invited as a lecturer in Lynn Sabin’s poetry class and he had an insane way of mixing humor with the gruesome side of life. To be honest, at 16, I didn’t really understand where his energy was coming from, but I did understand a few years later when I started doing graffiti. It was at this precise moment that I rediscovered the book of Mc Daniel and that I reread his verses over and over again until I knew them by heart. AND I have often quoted him on many murals to share his thoughts with the rest of the world. Mural by HERA of herakut in Vincennes, France. Photo by De La Couleur Sur Nos Murs.

“Wild Child” by HERA in Civitacampomarano, Italy.
HERA about Wild Child: Choosing a stray cat as the hero of a piece of public art is my way of attempting a balance between the existing monuments of some pompous monarchs or war generals and the real inhabitants of a place. I want the little ones, the real ones, the actual souls of the streets to be recognized. I want to pay homage to the ones who surely have fought through their fair share of struggles, and have their scars to prove it, but chose to for the most days just quietly exists, mind their business and remind us to enjoy even the uneventful days.

By HERA in Karlstad, Sweden for Karlstad Street Art curated by Huderrederre.
HERA: Because I work when I freestyle i came to the wall without a sketch and spend my time listening to what locals said about Karlstad. Every detail of this artwork was inspired by some info I came across at the spot, but also its overall theme about hospitality. The words on the upper left side read “Sola i Karlstad” which was the nickname of one particularly friendly tavern waitress and innkeeper in the city back in the 18th century; Eva Lisa Holtz. I think it’s absolutely amazing that the city even has a statue for her. How many cities in the world can say that they consider a sunny disposition and kindness as monument-worthy traits? I just love that!
So, that and the fact that being a good host is a ton of effort, I felt like I should dedicate this mural art to everyone who uses their time on earth to nurture others. And to unite others, no matter how far apart they usually sit.
