What the actual hell

Just a little genocide disguised as crowd control.

With 100,000 people in The Hague to demonstrate for peace in Gaza. All dressed in red, to tell the Dutch government it had crossed a red line in its failure to address genocide.

Nothing has entered Gaza for more than 50 days. Charity kitchens are warning they are only days away from shuttering services. Two million people on the brink. We are currently witnessing Israel’s solution to the Gaza question—an unmistakable humanitarian crisis engineered by the Israeli government to remove from its borders an entire people it has deemed the equivalent of locusts.

Israeli parliament approves bill to ban UNRWA

The Israeli parliament has approved a controversial bill to ban the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), considered a lifeline for Gaza, from operating on Israeli territory and areas under Israel’s control.

The legislation, which will not take effect immediately, risks collapsing the already fragile aid distribution process at a moment when the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is worsening and Israel is under increased pressure to allow in aid supplies.

Israel’s genocide in Gaza depends on the infrastructure and services of tech companies like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft.

On #TechWontSaveUs, I spoke with Mohammad Khatami and Gabi Schubiner of No Tech for Apartheid about how tech workers are pushing back on the companies’ complicity and trying to end their relationships with Israel.

Pre-October, all I ever knew was that Google really doesn't want you to talk about this, and they will silence you at any chance they get. Post-October, it was like not only will the company silence you, but if other workers are literally stalking you or accusing you of terrorism, the company will not do anything about that.

#Palestine / Spain’s prime minister says he will propose that parliament recognizes a Palestinian state

[…] “I will propose granting #Spain’s recognition to the Palestinian state, […] I do this out of moral conviction, for a just cause and because it is the only way that the two states, Israel and #Palestine, can live together in peace.”

[…] Spain demanded “respect for international law from Russia, and from Israel, for the violence to end, the recognition of two states, and for humanitarian aid to reach Gaza.”

Pedro Sánchez follows #France’s Macron and #UK’s Cameron, who signaled their country’s interest in promoting a similar initiative.

Under the cover of a near-total communications blackout in the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces have carried out 15 massacres that killed 172 people and injured 326 others in a 24-hour period, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said.

Gaza is entering its seventh day of a communications blackout on Friday, which has hampered aid agencies from accurately reporting the humanitarian situation on the ground.

So let’s do some maths:

Israel’s military estimates that out of the 13,000 or so Palestinians it has killed in seven weeks, 1,000 - 2,000 of them are Hamas fighters.

They estimate about 30,000 Hamas fighters in total and their stated goal is to wipe out Hamas entirely.

Given the current ratio of deaths, how many Palestinians will they have to kill to wipe out Hamas?

Answer: 195,000 - 390,000

(But don’t call it genocide.)

It’s hard to watch the horrific scenes coming from Gaza and the escalating death toll, which includes such a high number of children.

I was happy to speak with @marwasf about the information war on social media, internet shutdowns enforced by Israel, and what people can do to support Palestinian rights in this moment.

Gaza telecoms providers: Imminent ‘blackout’ in Gaza

Gaza’s two main telecommunications companies, Paltel and Jawwal, have warned of a “complete telecom blackout in the coming hours” in Gaza.

“Main data centers and switches in the Gaza Strip are gradually shutting down due to fuel depletion,” the companies said in a joint statement.

‘This is the moment we have been warning the whole world of’

Al Jazeera has spoken to Gaza Deputy Health Minister Dr. Youssef Abu Alreesh, currently inside al-Shifa Hospital as it is takes heavy fire from Israeli forces.

This is the moment we have been warning the whole world of, all generators are off, all power sources are out.
We have 39 newborns in the incubators, those babies are fighting against death.
No one is able to move around the compound, snipers are stationed all over the place in addition to the drones that target and kill any moving person.
A few minutes ago one of the engineering team was hit by a sniper, he was hit in the neck and was paralysed and he’s now about to die.
Part of the hospital was shelled and part of the building caught fire, we fear it will engulf the whole compound.
A few families tried to leave but they were targeted; now they are lying dead outside the hospital. We cannot get to them.
We are totally stranded, we are cut off from the outside world, and above all, we are left without any medical resources. We cannot even bury the dead.
Ferocious gunfire can be heard within the vicinity of the hospital, the intensive care unit received a mortar shell a few minutes ago.
Blood is everywhere, on the floor, we cannot even clean it.
In the past, the Israeli killing machine was killing and this was conveyed on TV screens. Now they are perpetrating the same killing but no one is listening, no one is watching, the whole world is standing by.
We are speaking with whatever is left of my phone battery, after that, we will be silent.

“We need the blood of the women, children and elderly of Gaza to awaken the revolutionary spirit”

"But they voted for Hamas..."

Whatever your sympathies on the Gaza situation, please stop using this as a justification for anything, because it's not true.

Feel free to share this. Stats:

- most recent election in Palestine: 17 years ago in 2006
- age of suffrage: 18
- ∴ minimum age *now* to have voted then: 17+18 = 35
- Palestinian population: ~5 million (Gaza plus West Bank, per CIA World Factbook)
- …of which, people under 35: ~3 million
- ∴ ~ 60% of current Palestinians could not possibly have voted for Hamas
