Damon Belanger, a graphic artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area, created a public art installation called “Fake Shadows” in Redwood City, California, USA. Funded by the Redwood City Public Art Program, this unique and playful street art project was realized in 2016.

Belanger’s “Fake Shadows” are a delightful interplay of reality and illusion. The artist added painted false shadows to common street objects, such as bike racks, benches, mailboxes, and even a manhole cover, turning them into whimsical creatures and objects. For example, a parking meter’s shadow becomes a monkey’s tail, a mailbox casts the shadow of a dragon, and a bike rack’s shadow transforms into a monkey on a tree.

Bulgarian street artist Vanyu Krastev adds a touch of humor to urban spaces by attaching googly eyes to everyday objects.

Grace was part of a group of knitters who decorated her town with bright and fun designs.

She helped transform everyday things like benches and telephone boxes into cheerful works of art. Her love for knitting made people smile and showed that anyone can be an artist, no matter how old they are. Grace proved that creativity has no limits.

Grace Brett: “I thought it was a really good idea to decorate the town and enjoyed having my crochet included,” Brett told the Press And Journal. “I liked seeing my work showing with everyone else and thought the town looked lovely.” Brett’s daughter Daphne, 74, explained, “she has always knitted and crocheted all through her life. She has always done all the knitting for the babies and made shawls.”

The city of Frauenfeld, Switzerland got a bit more colorful thanks to a stunning mural by Fabian Bane Florin. Titled “Cut Through History,” this magnificent piece was created for the Street Art Festival Frauenfeld, bringing a rich blend of history and art to life.

The mural features a 3D-anamorphic painting of a seamstress, lost in concentration as she works with a piece of red cloth. This captivating piece pays homage to the building it graces, which once housed a tailoring shop. In this way, Florin’s work threads together past and present, building a bridge between the location’s history and its current existence.

Speaking about his work, Florin said, “With this work, I wanted to express my respect for the place and its past. A special thanks goes to the organizers of the Street Art Festival Frauenfeld for a great week and as always to my friend and assistant Robert Dörre.”
