A reminder that our tromsite.com domain is blocked by Google and thus we cannot send any emails form our tromsite.com domain to any Gmail accounts... We have tried to fix this but so far no luck.

Google is an ad company so better not use Gmail in the first place.

As of today, you can access your encrypted #ProtonMail inbox and #ProtonCalendar on #Windows and #macOS without a browser or a third-party email app.

🐧 The #Linux app is also in the works.

Thanks to your initial feedback, these include improvements like:
🗓️ Easier access to Proton Calendar
⏩ Easy migration from #Gmail
🚨 Notification badges
🔠 Improved accessibility and font support

and more!

All paid Proton subscribers can try out the beta today https://proton.me/support/mail-desktop-app

There's a Proton Mail logo on the top of the image. Underneath is the following text:
"Now in beta for paid Proton Mail plans". The text is followed by the logos of Microsoft Windows and Apple.

Since I've seen a lot of chatter about people switching to #Firefox as Google ramps up the enshitification of #Chrome, let me tell you about a killer feature for people who (a) need multiple accounts on the same websites (eg. devs) or specifically (b) have to use multiple Google accounts.

Firefox has an official addon called Multi Account Containers that lets you trivially set up color coded tabs that have separate sets of cookies. Log into your dev account in one, and your test account in another. Log into your personal #gmail in one and have another tab next to it with your work Gmail. I'm actually not signed in to any Google accounts in most my tabs, I just have containers for the specific tasks I do on Google products.

It'll take you 30 seconds to set up.

One of the chairpersons of #DINRG (#decentralization advocacy group for #IRTF), #LixiaZhang, has a Twitter account but no fedi presence. If that’s not enough irony, someone could only respond to her blog using #Gmail: https://lixiazhangucla.blogspot.com/2021/06/internet-centralization-how-we-got-from.html?showComment=1636615213315#c4435105350614548730 We badly need better leadership.

What happens if #Gmail decides only #Chrome users can access it? Well, that's what #Google's new API would do if its new DRM for the #web moves ahead.

Removing just GMail from your Google Account

Lately I've been receiving a new kind of spam on my #Gmail email address that I was forwarding to my FastMail inbox for a few years. People have been using my Gmail address to fill in contact forms on various French and German websites, and I was receiving the contact reception confirmation.

Thanks to this handy how to, I was able to remove my GMail address without deleting my #Google account that I sadly need to keep around, maybe it will help you too.

If you use #GMail, #Google keeps records of everything you buy, even if you delete the email receipt, and even if you didn't buy the product from them. Here's metadata from my takeout showing price, delivery address, description, vendor, etc. #privacy

#GMail is harmful to e-mail ecosystem; its antispam blocking policy matches too many valid messages as spam.

It blocked LastPass email leak warning email, because it contained "a link" to a leaked site.

It blocked an e-mail from goverment agency addressed directly to me.

It discriminates all non-gmail servers, and it's pretty much impossible to own a private SMTP server these days, because GMail will classify everything as spam.

It's not how e-mail should work.

Consider dropping GMail.
