Up to now, I’ll prepared 11 colors and you can already find some on the streets of Hamburg and Hannover. Can’t wait to be able to visit other cities and let you some of them on your walls. We have to be patient in these hard times. Stay healthy and hang in for all the nice things you can’t do presently. There will be better times for sure.

Bozik (direct translation): On June 26, in Kazan, in Uram Park [b]УРАМ[/b], the City Youth Day was held and many venues related to sports, street culture and art were organized. As part of this festival, my Bro Gooze and I created our drawings on the large pillars of the Millennium Bridge! It was a super sprint for 2 days! I don’t know how we managed then, but we had towers for two days from morning to evening. Gooze decided to draw Bars as one of the symbols of Tatarstan and made a sketch of a female leopard. I made a male leopard for balance. The drawing for me turned out to be very sincere despite the complexity and large volume in a very short time. Once again, the drawing flew out from under my hand by itself, and as usual, I usually understand the meaning of what was drawn after it materialized on the wall. I do not want to describe what I put into this picture, I wonder what you will see. If there is time and desire, I will be very glad to read the interpretation of the resulting fairy tale in the comments.

HERA about Wild Child: Choosing a stray cat as the hero of a piece of public art is my way of attempting a balance between the existing monuments of some pompous monarchs or war generals and the real inhabitants of a place. I want the little ones, the real ones, the actual souls of the streets to be recognized. I want to pay homage to the ones who surely have fought through their fair share of struggles, and have their scars to prove it, but chose to for the most days just quietly exists, mind their business and remind us to enjoy even the uneventful days.

HERA: Because I work when I freestyle i came to the wall without a sketch and spend my time listening to what locals said about Karlstad. Every detail of this artwork was inspired by some info I came across at the spot, but also its overall theme about hospitality.

The words on the upper left side read “Sola i Karlstad” which was the nickname of one particularly friendly tavern waitress and innkeeper in the city back in the 18th century; Eva Lisa Holtz. I think it’s absolutely amazing that the city even has a statue for her. How many cities in the world can say that they consider a sunny disposition and kindness as monument-worthy traits? I just love that!

So, that and the fact that being a good host is a ton of effort, I felt like I should dedicate this mural art to everyone who uses their time on earth to nurture others. And to unite others, no matter how far apart they usually sit.

Urban Artist Mr Meana

Mr Meana: This one was fun to be fair. A cat vets wanted a big ginger kitten escaping from the side of the building. Battled some serious winds and rain showers but got it there. Painted with spray paint in one day. It seems to be the first piece of street art in the area, so let’s hope it gets people wanting more.

Black cats have to deal with the superstitious stereotypes of being ”bad luck’ from too many witch movies

SWIFTMANTIS: This is Olive! She’s a sweet little stray rescued by the Cats Protection League of Canterbury, and she needs a home! Usually the stray stories I paint have already found homes in interesting places but this time it’s an open ended story and we’re hoping someone out there can help give her the forever home she needs. She’s been at the shelter for a while now, black cats have to deal with the superstitious stereotypes of being ”bad luck’ from too many witch movies. On top of that strays can be hard work at first and do require a little extra effort, but seeing them transform makes it all worth it. Massive thanks to FLARE Street Art Festival for hosting us and helping me bring this mural to life. Special thanks to @furtographynz for photographing Olives portrait to give me the best possible reference to paint from. And the Cats Protection League of Canterbury who’ve been helping local cats since 1971! Much love to all the Artists and organizers involved, you guys make the whole experience so damn fun it was hard to leave!

Näutil, what is street art for you?

“It is everything but the institutional or authorized things. It is as the opposite, it is a way to interrogate, to provoke some reflexion, political, philosophical as well as artistic and poetic.
It is a non-perfect art, capable of accompanying a little bit of non-perfect people (us😀 and in many ways regarding some subject, to awaken again a desire to start paying attention to little things that we do not do or see anymore. It is a way to propose reverie.
But also some political interrogation because we must not forget that the bases, the ethical foundations of graffiti were subversive and kind of ” antisocial ” at least anti institutional and provocative.
It’s a challenge too. To start at four in the morning not to be caught (I was in a few weeks making a chameleon near Utah beach, goddess!) Hoping to have the right weather, the good inspiration after the rendezvous the blockhouse or some other surfaces. It is also very technical sometime, with micro and macro perspective, 3D effects, contrasts of colors etc…. (never natural one, I don’t paint on trees, rocks etc). Because I like the connection with the prohibited part, and also the connection with nature.
For me it is important to put words on each piece of my work, I do that with someone who is on the same page as me, and it makes me able to complete my graffiti, because it is kind of a story, that people are free to be reinterpreted with their own mind and heart.”

In Istanbul, Turkey. They made a statue to honor a stray cat that used to sit in this position and watch the passers by. I lived there for a few months and they really love their cats (who are everywhere).

Cats in the neighbourhood came to pay their respects to Istanbul’s most famous feline.

One month after its installation the sculpture went missing. A comment from Turkey MP Tuncay Özkan: “They stole the Tombili statue. They are enemies of everything beautiful. All they know is hate, tears and war”. The statue was safely returned a short time later.

It all happened in 2016. The the cat’s name Tombili and the statue was made by the artist Seval Şahin.
