In the current development code of #Friendica - running on libranet.de - there is a new 'Report Post' function. You can find it in the '...more' menu of each post. It is the first visible step towards implementing a #moderation system.

The problem is that the user interface where reports are presented to moderators is still missing. So, reports are created and saved, but I can't see them yet. 😀

@Mastodon Migration @Electronic Frontier Foundation Yes we need to take this seriously, but not in the way that big-korpo would like to push on us - that is, connecting to their API , which will scan all our images.
Since such APIs for scanning #CSAM will never be open and free (so that criminals can not "test" materials before publication) then the only option is a decent #moderation #fediverse. But decent means actually manually reviewing all photo/video material published on the servers. And this, in turn, indicates that instances should be no more than real moderation capabilities. Such manual moderation does not seem realistic on instances with tens-hundreds of thousands of accounts.

Today, I've decided to give up on my blog's commenting system.

I've been blogging for almost 20 years. I have received 13,007 comments on 978 of my posts. So why am I stopping now?

@Friendica Developers
Hello
I don't promise anything, but I have interest in developing a #moderation #addon for #friendica (mainly reports compatibility).
Where do you suggest to start? Thanks

@helpers I don't promise anything, but i'm interested in developing a #report addon (like reports of mastodon, recieve and send) for #friendica to improve #moderation , what would you recommend to study from the source code? #help

Das Schwerpunktthema dieses Mal sind Fallbeispiele.

Bringt gerne konkrete Fälle aus der Moderation ein, die unklar oder ungewöhnlich waren und für andere lehrreich sein könnten.

Hello !Friendica Support,

Is the front end for moderation and reporting posts being worked on yet? For my small instance, this is not yet so important, but I can imagine that there is a need for larger instances.

Even when Twitter’s T&S infrastructure was at its most functional – which I’d say was 2021-mid 2022 – I sometimes saw appeals on content decisions, suspensions, etc. take 2-3 months unless I escalated to personal contacts at the company.

I keep seeing folks expect #moderation and community management decisions on volunteer-run fedi instances to happen in hours – not even days – and jumping to defederation when they don’t get immediate responses. It’s going to burn out so many admins, and makes me sad and worried about the sustainability and scalability of our communities.

Can the API for #chatGPT be used to automate #moderation on Mastodon, Pleroma and other federated servers?

Would love some details in the comments!

Please reboost if you can to get a good sample of participants 😀

  • Yes, this is possible. (28%, 2 votes)
  • Yes, but there are some concerns (28%, 2 votes)
  • This is a bad idea (42%, 3 votes)
7 voters. Poll end: 1 year ago

@markallerton@mekkaokereke@ks My view is that any account that uses the word #moderation in any context should be automatically required to pay $1 a month to a server admin via #Patreon or PayPal.

This isn’t funded by venture money or ads. So if you expect a commercial level of moderation, then support the cause monetarily.

An experimental social media platform revealed that user moderation works; decentralized moderation can work well.

Related observation: Mastodon is decentralized.

Somebody reported me to myself, y’all. How’s your day going? 😀

Hint: if you don’t like my comparing Israel to Russia, go tell Israel to stop acting like Russia.

(And find out how the fediverse works before you go making an arse of yourself trying to censor me on my own personal instance.)
