A Creative Voyage:

Seth’s life as an artist changed in 2003 when he started a world tour. He worked with artists from different cultures and learned new ways to paint in cities around the globe. Born in Moscow, Danila Shmelev—better known as Shozy—has spent over two decades bending urban reality with paint. After studying at the Moscow Institute of Art & Industrial and training in classical techniques, he took his graffiti roots into the third dimension. Today, Shozy is best known for his striking 3D street art, where illusions of melted balconies, floating cubes, and warped towers appear on residential blocks from France to the Arctic Circle.

Mona Caron: Gentiana Lutea – studding the landscape here in the highs of the Jura mountains, standing tall in the rolling meadows like little flagpoles marking the spots where you can dig for its magic and prized bitter root, a key ingredient of many vermouths, liqueurs, firewaters, syrups and tinctures, here in the homeland of Absinthe.

Bitter is a lost taste, even though bitterness is delicious and cures. Addiction to the sweet has narrowed the spectrum of pleasures that palates can enjoy, keeping many from healthy habits.

So I offer this bitter-rooted wildflower, a field weed as metaphor of resilience through the strength we gain by daring something feared, perhaps uncomfortably new but actually ancient, unearthing both medicine and pleasure which nature has been beckoning us towards all along. Skeletons have always been a powerful symbol in street art. Artists from all over the world use skeletons in their murals and installations to create art that is sometimes serious, sometimes funny, and always eye-catching.

HERA about Wild Child: Choosing a stray cat as the hero of a piece of public art is my way of attempting a balance between the existing monuments of some pompous monarchs or war generals and the real inhabitants of a place. I want the little ones, the real ones, the actual souls of the streets to be recognized. I want to pay homage to the ones who surely have fought through their fair share of struggles, and have their scars to prove it, but chose to for the most days just quietly exists, mind their business and remind us to enjoy even the uneventful days.

HERA: Because I work when I freestyle i came to the wall without a sketch and spend my time listening to what locals said about Karlstad. Every detail of this artwork was inspired by some info I came across at the spot, but also its overall theme about hospitality.

The words on the upper left side read “Sola i Karlstad” which was the nickname of one particularly friendly tavern waitress and innkeeper in the city back in the 18th century; Eva Lisa Holtz. I think it’s absolutely amazing that the city even has a statue for her. How many cities in the world can say that they consider a sunny disposition and kindness as monument-worthy traits? I just love that!

So, that and the fact that being a good host is a ton of effort, I felt like I should dedicate this mural art to everyone who uses their time on earth to nurture others. And to unite others, no matter how far apart they usually sit.

This sparked a passion for graffiti that led him to paint illegally on street walls and railway lines in and around Lisbon.

Odeith’s impressive evolution as an artist is due in part to his dedication to painting large-scale murals in various neighborhoods throughout Damaia, Carcavelos, and Amadora. Although he dropped out of school at the age of 15 and never received any formal art training, Odeith’s talent for drawing and his relentless self-taught approach to his craft led him to become the renowned artist he is today.

In 2003, Odeith adopted his current moniker, and by 2005, his innovative use of the anamorphosis technique began garnering international recognition. This “Somber 3D” style, as he later called it, involves painting on 90-degree corners or flat walls to create authentic, large-scale compositions of insects or objects that give a striking 3D optical illusion effect. Many of these works, painted in abandoned spaces, quickly went viral due to their realism and technique.

Odeith briefly lived in London after closing his tattoo shop in 2008, but he has since returned to Lisbon, where he now focuses exclusively on studio work and walls. Martín Ron, born on March 13, 1981, in Caseros, Buenos Aires, is a renowned Argentine muralist celebrated for his large-scale, hyper-realistic artworks that transform urban landscapes worldwide.

Martín Ron (direct translation): When I arrived in this beautiful city, I was concerned about the dramatic change that the landscape suffered due to the historical downspout of the RÍO PARANA River that gives life to a large part of this region. The causes? Many: Extreme climate change, drought, deforestation, reduction of wetlands and a lot of disinterest in asking ourselves questions. The consequences? Too many. This mural is part of a new series of murals in which I am working where the protagonist is the reflection. And how opportune to get involved to invite you to reflect on what happens when a river runs out of water.
