This is the first kickstarter I'm doing *without* using Twitter or Instagram for promo. I've been on twitter for as long as I've been in indie-comics, so cutting off that community base has been difficult, and I've been stressing out over how much this is going to affect my livelihood.

I'm a full-time indie creator. So I need the platforms to live.

Let's hope mastodon and twitch can cushion the potential fall!

Thought y'all were talking about #QTCinderella, one of the biggest female streamers on #Twitch, but nah y'all were talking about quote posts in #Mastodon lol

It seems #Twitch has done the incredibly shitty move of forcibly enabling email notifications for all the channels I follow. I’ve been bombarded with live channel alerts over the past couple of days, and I had to manually disable notifications for each and every one of them. 😡

The free open source livestreaming platform OwnCast has set up a demo server at:

https://watch.owncast.online

It currently runs a loop of videos by people who self-host their livestreams using OwnCast, along with short videos promoting other libre projects.

If you run a free open project and have a short video (under 1 minute), you can have it added to this loop by contacting @owncast.

OwnCast servers include Fediverse compatibility, so you can follow them from Mastodon etc. When a stream you follow goes live, you'll see a message telling you about it in your timeline.

After Twitch's complete data leak that I didn't hear about from #Twitch themselves, I realized I didn't have explicit two-factor authentication set. When I set about to do that, I remembered why: the process requires to submit your phone number and email address to a 3rd party.🤬

I discovered the world of Twitch drummers recently, and I have been absolutely amazed at their setup. I guess I should have expected it from people who already loved gear way too much, but the end result in live shows still is impressive.

Tonight on #Twitch, I witnessed the funny epilogue of a 7 hours journey into flying a modded Airbus A320neo from San Francisco to Portland in Microsoft Flight Simulator. I joined 4 hours in the stream as the plane hadn't even lift off yet, the actual flight on auto-pilot lasted for about 3 unremarkable hours, and after a hectic approach, this happened:

A #LEGO set to build, a #DOTA2 tournament on #Twitch to watch, fruit gummies to snack on, I’ll leave the adulting to you folks for today.
