If an account has a link in the bio, and the bio is pretty much entirely an exercise in convincing you that you need to click that link for whatever pressing reason, even if it’s just to understand the true purpose of the account, STOP. DON’T CLICK THE LINK.

It’s possible that it’s harmless, but it’s a pretty big red flag, especially if it’s trying to convince you time is of the essence, and you need to click now. Take a breath, don’t click.

I’ve only been here a few weeks, and I’ve already seen an assorted handful of these.

(Also if you’re a legit account with a cool project that has nothing to do with scamming anyone or distributing malware, please don’t present it in a way that encourages people to click mysterious links out of curiosity. Even if the safety of the people in your audience is not a concern for you, consider that looking like a scammer can drive people away and may get your account added to block lists or possibly even shut down.)
