@tennoseremel lol 😆

Another meme I have on my computer relevant for today 🤣 :

#SquidGame #meme #nft

A meme in two panel, from the series Squid Game.

1. The main character ask to his friend, a successful buisness man as far he could remember: "Why are you here? I thought you were financially stable." The friend feels lost. They both are in prison like clothes, with number on them.

2. The facial expression lost of his friend is now overlaid on top of a montage of 6 NFTs "Bored Ape". Looking like he think about it and regret.

Yesterday, @˗ˏˋ wakest ˎˊ˗ gave me a compelling alternate narrative for #NFT as patronage rather than speculation vessel or multi-level marketing scam. Patrons pay for the art to be made but it can still be published publicly. Unlike Patreon, artists don’t have to hide anything behind a paywall.

Granted, it isn’t the most popular narrative, both in volume of money exchanged and in volume of interest on social media, but it has a faint redeeming quality to it that I enjoy.

"Quark. You can't just sell a picture of the Mona Lisa on the Holo Deck" - "Why not?"

"I'm not selling the Mona Lisa, I'm selling ownership of it. The owner can copy it from the Louvre, but not remove it, and if the Louvre ever gets burned down, the owner would still have their ownership intact."

"But you don't even own the Mona Lisa!"
- "No. But i owe this ownership certificate of it. And for only 975 Bars of gold pressed Latinum it could be yours."

Beyond the ridiculous pyramid scheme of #NFT, not sure the "let's show NFT is good actually by expressly going against the personal wishes of the creator of a graphics software we've been using without giving them credit" is the smart play. 🤮

Do not buy NFT made with my art.
Do not make NFT with my Creative-Commons artworks.
If you respect my art, remember and apply this.

Here is my article about what just happened: https://www.davidrevoy.com/article864/dream-cats-nfts-don-t-buy-them

What I find amusing (as a #Wikipedia and #OSM contributor) that the #NFT does not even give you "intellectual property" (aka. ©) rights, so, basically you own something you may not even possibly have in possession or show to others.

I see a huge market in selling others' digital "goods" as "originals" to clueless people, using fake celebs names, cash in bitcoin and diappear until next time. Possibly can't even jail me since I have stolen nothing, and provided the "goods" as well. Criminals' heaven!
