Daemon ausgefallen
Und ich wundere mich schon, warum ich seit 2 Tagen so gut wie keine Reaktionen auf meine Antworten krieg...
ich hab bei meiner #Friendica Instanz nicht einen Cronjob, der die Worker startet, sondern ich habs mit dem worker-daemon gelöst. Das funktioniert ansich sehr zufriedenstellend.
Aber aus irgend einem Grund stürzt mir der Daemon immer wieder einmal ab und wird nicht mehr restartet, trotzRestart=always
in der systemd-unit.
Ich hab es jetzt um RestartSec=10s ergänzt und lass mir außerdem, wenn er wirklich dann failed, der job, ein Email schicken.
Ich beobachte einmal.

Can you try the current release candidate, it is pretty stable. If it is the same there than file an issue on Github.
The README of the #Friendica project I'm contributing to doesn't look good in that regard: "Welcome to the free social web. Friendica is a decentralised communications platform that integrates social communication. Our platform links to independent social projects and corporate services."
I have tested many RSS Readers, and there are some great ones, but Friendica also acts as one and does a fantastic job at. This was one of the features that convinced me to move form Mastodon to Friendica. The fact that I can follow anyone on the fediverse + any RSS feed....is just too good! I keep on saying this, but Friendica is really underrated. #tromlive
My quite big patch to #friendica has been merged into develop. Thanks to @Hypolite Petovan for his patience rewieving the thing.
Now let the new bugs it creates come to me...
Ich bin nicht sicher weshalb keine anderen Leute antworten, vielleicht sind die im Urlaub, aber vielleicht solltest du noch mal @Friendica Support auf Englisch probieren, da sind mehr Leute die das sprechen mit erreichbar, meistens geht es ja recht schnell bis jemand bei #Friendica #Support leistet.

I absolutely love that #Friendica is the subject of 50% of your federation posts while not using it yourself.
That said, I wouldn't mind a corporate job working on Friendica. I don't mind the corporate frame as it can be a useful wall to lean on, otherwise there are so many possible avenues of development it's a little dizzying.

Mit #Olympia wir überdeutlich, dass wir auf #Friendica eine richtige #Filterung der Beiträge nach #Tags brauchen. Damit meine ich das vollständige Löschen Inhalte aus dem Stream. Andernfalls hat man seitenweite kollabierte Beiträge dort stehen. Wenn man das mit den Sprachen verbinden könnte, um so besser.

Database size
about a week ago my database grew massively, from about 11GB to over 20GB. I assume that it is related to this pull-request (10484). Is this normal or is there something that did not work properly when updating the database?

Turns out my memory problem with #Friendica might not be configuration related after all.
Browsing through my #Friendica website and looking at htop really is frustrating right now. Selecting an existing photo as my profile photo lets memory use peak at 35GB on my single user (some news accounts) server.
Usual memory usage is 5 GB and and load 0.5, but load peaks at 8... Also some other actions trigger real high memory usage.

Ich suche nach einer Möglichkeit, Videos von #Peertube in #Friendica direkt einzubetten - also nicht als Link auf die Seite. Ich möchte, dass es sich nahtlos in die Timeline einbettet wie das YT-Zeugs auch.

Unter 'Teilen' gibt es bei PeerTube auch die Option, ein IFrame-Schnippsel zu bekommen. Aber das scheint nicht weiter zu helfen.

I think there is a federation problem with posts that contain more than one image. On Friendica and Diaspora all images are visible, on Mastodon (and in apps like Tusky) only one image is visible.

The server OOM happens always between 3:15 and 3:45 in the morning. No process runs at that time, so it might be some higher external load. I think next I will try to block all crawlers. Now the memory footprint it very low, fortunately #Friendica still works well like that. But I am not sure why MariaDB, still uses that much RAM, I thought I set it to use 9 GB max, but the DB is probably 30 GB now and if some setting permits it will use lots of RAM of course. So I need to check that.
I host my own decentralized social media #Friendica node and I use a custom domain for email but I would never run my own mail server.
With regards to your initial question, mastodon.social is more a convenience than anything else. All their users are united by the common fact they didn’t have to look for another Mastodon instance to register an account on the #Fediverse. I don’t mean this negatively, convenience is a valuable quality.

What is needed to go on thinking about it would be a (I guess bitcoin) multisig wallet created with #electrum.
For that purpose it's necessary to define/find the people who hold the keys, how many keys and the kind of multisig wallet.
(2/3, 2/4, 3/5, 3/6 for example)
If you are not familiar with the terms just ask as many "stupid" learning questions as you want.

Problems installing friendica 20.21 04 on shared host

Last time I installed 2019.12 and didn't have mayor problems in the initial step browsing to the domain for the first time.

After adding the "Command line PHP" path i get this:

I got a some "Newsaccounts", there is @hubsiundhorsti2.0, @Andre Meister (Inoffiziell) and @NilsMelzer, I follow all of them from @utzer, but @hubsiundhorsti2.0 and @Andre Meister (Inoffiziell) do not show any contacts in their contacts, as if there is no followers at all. But @NilsMelzer has plenty of followers.
All accounts are "Newspages" or in Germany "Nachrichtenseiten".
What is the reason for the newer @hubsiundhorsti2.0 and @Andre Meister (Inoffiziell) not having any contacts?
Anyone a tipp how to check, maybe pull the feed a thousand times an check if Nitter delivers the wrong one at some point? I am following the feed in my feed reader, but there I did not have this problem yet, while Friendica had this before already.

I saw there is alot of fuss about #Friendica now supporting Mastodon clients with the new API that @Michael Vogel implemented, so I thought lets try some client for GNU/Linux and took the first one Searx returned, it is called Tootle and available via standard Ubuntu repository.
Installed it, entered the domain of my instance, it opened some oauth page where I clicked on yes... and nothing happens, but Tootle expects some "Code" to be entered.
- Maybe someone is brave enough to install this Electron (I think it is) based client and can confirm my problem.
- Can suggest some other client for now?
