• My son, do you want to hear something strange?
  – Yes! What?
• You know the new tree painting we did on the garage last week.. Up until around the year 2050 people generally did not have paintings on houses!
  – What? Were they grey?
• Well, yes, many were. Often they would paint villas in One colour, like blue or yellow, but very rarely in more than one or two colours and almost never any pictures. Most apartment houses and government buildings and so on were grey. Artists sometimes went and painted on tunnels, grey municipal buildings and so on, but the pictures were washed away! By the government!
  – …Was art forbidden?
• Well no, but it had to be in special buildings only. Some people felt that houses was not to be painted on, except in one pale colour all over.
  – Wow.. How dull.
• Yes, my son. Now lets get our jackets and go pick some fruit.

AG PNT: Completed my second wall for Kotis Street ArtGraffiti of Eden festival here in Eden, NC. I thought it was only fitting to name this piece Eve. Even tho it was an after thought, having this wall around the corner from my snake, I wanted to make this piece look like she’s the one that painted the snake. I have one more wall to do while I’m here but I’m happy to see this one finished. Good times with good people! ♥️

BIO: David Zinn has been creating original artwork in and around Ann Arbor, Michigan since 1987. For more than twenty years, he freelanced for a wide variety of commercial clients while simultaneously sneaking “pointless” art into the world at large. His professional commissions included theatrical posters, business logos, educational cartoons, landfill murals, environmental superheroes, corporate allegories and hand-painted dump trucks, and his less practical creations involved bar coasters, restaurant placemats, cake icing, and snow.

David’s temporary street drawings are composed entirely of chalk, charcoal and found objects, and are always improvised on location through a process known as “pareidolic anamorphosis” or “anamorphic pareidolia.” Most of his creatures appear on sidewalks in Michigan, but many have surfaced as far away as subway platforms in Manhattan, village squares in Sweden and street corners in Taiwan.

‘Fabrics’ by Street Artist Xomatok

The project was carried out together with the neighbors for two months of good energy and sharing inspired by the fabrics of the Llicllas and blankets of Andes.

BIO: Xomatok is an artist from Lima, Perú, beginning his love for Street and Urban Art in 2007. He works within a contemporary aesthetic that explores the intervention of color and its affects on visual language.

His work is based on the design and alteration of space, with emphasis the manifestation of color and its relationship to the human experience.

Xomatok feels that Street Art produces a sense of freedom for both himself, as the artist, and the observer: creating a dialogue between the art, the artist and its spectators – it is as though the art does not exist without its audience.

In their first art intervention in the city of Barcelona,PichiAvohas painted a mural in the facade of the student residence Livensa Living Diagonal Alto of Temprano Capital Partners, designed by the Portuguese architect José Quintela da Fonseca. The artistic duo has designed a mural that shows a very particular version of Pallas Athena’s sculpture in the Austrian Parliament, in Vienna.

For a wheelchair user, a sidewalk without an access ramp is a wall. And, according to the latest census, only 9% of sidewalks in São Paulo have access ramps. Therefore, to draw attention to this lack of accessibility, we invited artists to do what they do best to the city’s walls to do their art on walls that only wheelchair users are aware of.

This is how A SIDEWALK IS A WALL came about: a project by NGO Movimento SuperAção that took on the responsibility of raising society’s awareness about the importance of including people with disabilities. Not only because of the basic human rights principle, but also because of the obvious and inherent advantages of coexisting with differences.

“Why do you think the one at Sixth Street and Central has gotten so much attention?
The building itself is already kind of in a weird standpoint. It was in the news. It’s just this ugly, eyesore, half-completed building that’s been that way for years. I think because it was already in people’s minds, they saw this ugly building with these ugly connections. I chose that one because I’ve been looking at it since they stopped construction and I knew it was going to be just another building in Albuquerque that was going to sit until it fell apart. I chose it because it already had some attention, and some negative attention, and I wanted to direct that negative attention and show that sometimes something ugly can be beautiful, too.” More.
