Folks, just a heads up: I’m busily coding a Gaza Verified Emergency Appeal site so that we can raise one amount that will get all our remaining families in the danger zone in the North to safety in the South.

I’m adapting the donation form I’d made for us at Small Technology Foundation (https://small-tech.org/fund-us – don’t worry about donations to us at the moment, eye on the ball, folks!)

Joy’s busy compiling the list of Gaza Verified families that are still stuck in the North and the monies they need to get to the South.

We’re going to add those up and set a total amount and then push that out with a campaign similar to the one I ran last night. I could really use your help once that starts to spread the word and help out if you can.

I don’t have the exact number of families off the top of my head right now (head in code mode) but it’s too many. Even one is too many. Anyway…

So we’re going to collect the donations into our Small Technology Foundation account and then transfer them to everyone’s individual fundraisers. I’ve got that basic functionality running right now (it looks like crap but it’s running so I’m going to work on making the page look more appealing for the rest of the day).

As much as I’d like to start the campaign tonight, realistically, it’s better if we start it tomorrow.

Every night, though, is a chance that we will have fewer families to help…

Anyway, I just wanted to give you a heads up. If you’re around tomorrow, I could use your help in spreading the word.

Et si le premier ministre israélien Benyamin Netanyahou et son plan génocidaire dans le bande de Gaza étaient défaits par la société israélienne ? Après que le cabinet d’extrême droite de l’intéressé a annoncé vendredi un plan de conquête militaire totale de l’enclave palestinienne, des dizaines de milliers de personnes sont descendues, samedi 9 août, dans les rues de Tel-Aviv.

Le Forum des familles des otages a même annoncé 100 000 participants, soit une mobilisation grandissante pour un accord de libération de tous les Israéliens encore prisonniers du Hamas et mettre fin à la guerre. Face à un « gouvernement qui n’écoute pas les Israéliens », les familles d’otages retenus à Gaza ont appelé à la grève générale dimanche 17 août. Un appel relayé par le chef de l’opposition Yaïr Lapid.

« Si vous envahissez certaines parties de Gaza et que les otages sont tués, nous vous poursuivrons sur les places publiques, pendant les campagnes électorales et à tout moment et en tout lieu », a prévenu Shahar Mor Zahiro, un proche d’un otage tué, dans un message à destination de Netanyahou relayé par l’AFP. Toutes les revendications convergent en une seule, résumée sur une pancarte rose brandie par une jeune manifestante : « résister au cabinet de la mort ».

Dans la foule compacte, des appels ont même été lancés en direction des soldats de l’armée israélienne, afin qu’ils désobéissent à exécuter ce plan d’occupation. Une stratégie mortifère que le Hadash (alliance de gauche radicale israélienne juive et arabe, dont le parti communiste israélien) a qualifié de « catastrophe qui entraînera la mort de milliers de Palestiniens, d’otages israéliens et de soldats ». La mort, mais aussi « le déplacement forcé de dizaines de milliers d’habitants épuisés et affamés qui souffrent de famine, alors qu’Israël continue de bloquer l’entrée de l’aide humanitaire sur le territoire ».
La société civile mobilisée

Le député communiste israélien Ofer Cassif a de son côté réclamé de la communauté internationale qu’elle sanctionne Israël, seul moyen pour lui de sauver les « centaines de milliers de Palestiniens affamés et massacrés », les « otages israéliens torturés », et, en définitive, « l’âme mourante de la société israélienne ». « Aucun État ni aucun gouvernement ne devraient être au-dessus de la justice naturelle et du droit international », a-t-il rappelé. Cette exigence, Ofer Cassif l’avait déjà relayé fin juillet aux côtés de l’élue du Hadash Aida Touma-Suleiman, ainsi que d’une trentaine de cinéastes, artistes, universitaires et anciens politiciens israéliens, dans une lettre adressée au Guardian.

Cela fait plusieurs semaines que les manifestations essaiment partout dans le pays. Jeudi soir, ils étaient des milliers rassemblés contre la guerre à Jérusalem. Même ampleur le même jour devant le siège du Likoud à Tel-Aviv, où les opposants ont bloqué l’autoroute Ayalon et où la police israélienne a procédé à dix arrestations. La société civile, elle aussi, se mobilise.

Vendredi, environ 300 architectes et urbanistes ont signé une pétition, intitulée : « Stop à la destruction – Oui à la reconstruction de Gaza ». Ils y expriment notamment leur « profonde consternation face aux actes de destruction, aux meurtres, à la famine et aux déportations massives des villes et des zones civiles de la bande de Gaza ».

Bez 14 członków jawnie rasistowskich partii rząd Netanjahu (ani żaden inny) nie ma w Knesecie większości. Po 7 października politycy niemal wszystkich opcji w izraelskiej polityce wygłaszali rasistowskie poglądy, wielu z nich nawoływało do czystek w Gazie. Rząd, który prowadzi wojnę, opiera się jednak na ludziach, którzy z takimi poglądami nigdy się nie kryli, głosili je przez lata otwarcie, a w ostatnich wyborach zdobyli prawie 11 proc. głosów.

Taki klimat polityczny daje bardzo nikłe szanse na zmianę polityki Izraela wobec Gazy. Wojna będzie trwała, w Gazie dalej będą ginąć niewinni ludzie, a Strefa Gazy z dnia na dzień będzie stawała się coraz trudniejszym miejscem do życia.

Spora część izraelskiego społeczeństwa wciąż popiera wojnę i chce zemsty na społeczeństwie Gazy. Według sondażu Israeli Democracy Institute na koniec tygodniowego zawieszenia broni 87 proc. Izraelczyków popierało wznowienie walk.

Społeczeństwo palestyńskie na Zachodnim Brzegu na wojnę odpowiedziało natomiast radykalizacją. Najnowszy sondaż przeprowadzony przez zespół palestyńskiego profesora Chalila Szikakiego pokazuje, że poparcie dla Hamasu wzrosło prawie czterokrotnie – z 12 proc. we wrześniu 2023 do 44 proc. w grudniu 2023 roku. Znacznie wzrosło też poparcie dla walki zbrojnej jako środka do zyskania własnego państwa. To nie tylko wpływ wojny w Gazie. We wrześniu 2022 roku na Zachodnim Brzegu takie poparcie wyrażało 35 proc. badanych, ale we wrześniu 2023 to już 54 proc., a w grudniu 2023 – aż 68 proc. To też wynik rozczarowania polityką liderów Autonomii Palestyńskiej, uważanych za wspólników Izraela w okupacji. I narastającą przemocą ze strony osadników żydowskich na Zachodnim Brzegu. Wojna wzmogła frustrację.
