Red Hat released an urgent security alert for Fedora 41 and Rawhide users:

> PLEASE IMMEDIATELY STOP USAGE OF ANY FEDORA 41 OR FEDORA RAWHIDE INSTANCES for work or personal activity.

Yesterday, Red Hat Information Risk and Security and Red Hat Product Security learned that the latest versions of the “xz” tools and libraries contain malicious code that appears to be intended to allow unauthorized access. Specifically, this code is present in versions 5.6.0 and 5.6.1 of the libraries - at this time, only Fedora 41 and Fedora Rawhide contain these libraries. This vulnerability was assigned CVE-2024-3094.

A few days ago, I started working at cargo-rpmstatus, a utility to check the #packaging status of the dependency tree in #fedora repositories.

Now it is also available via Copr.

$ dnf copr enable dmorawetz/cargo-rpmstatus
$ dnf install cargo-rpmstatus

Check it out and please provide me some feedback to plan the next steps.

Does anyone know if there's a proper way to make a #Huion Kamvas 24 Plus work on #Fedora ? Is there a working open-source driver for it ?

@davidrevoy maybe you have a clue? 😛

There's a proprietary linux driver available, but only for Ubuntu based distros (that's what I use on Mint for now).

Now that the #Serde issue is resolved by removing the binary, I want to thank @decathorpe again, not only for reporting the issue, but also for all his efforts in the #Rust and #Fedora communities ❤

For others: Please don't call things like this "drama" again. This is pushing back against mistakes that would affect the whole community. I love how much the community cares and that such problems are not ignored 🥰

We are not here to only get things done, we are building a future ❤

It's a rainy #caturday, we need an animated purring "fedowa" plymouth bootsplash theme for #Fedora #Linux, stop meowing around and make it happen, folks! :blobcat: https://github.com/CharlotteCross1998/linuwux/blob/main/fedowa.png

Earlier today at #almalinux we patched CVE-2023-38403 in iperf3 and released it prior to anyone else in the EL-ecosystem. We promptly submitted PRs with #centos and #fedora.

A lot was learned during this process so we can nail down the processes of doing our own patches while contributing upstream and ultimately deliver on our promises from https://almalinux.org/blog/future-of-almalinux/

looks great and must have been interesting to ride and draw it inside one of the very beasts that helped inspire it.

Can't help but notice #Krita running on top of #Fedora on a #YogaTablet. There's a 380 in my cart already, so it's good to see one in action for graphics use.

🐧 I wrote a new blog entry listing all the changes I made to turn the Lenovo Yoga 370 into my mobile GNU/Linux digital painting device. It's long because it contains detailed instructions for beginners. I hope it is helpful.

Ps: not sponsored or an adv: the machine is from 2019.

again #Fedora #Silverblue is awesome. Just upgraded to version 38 and I can do it with peace of mind, because if something goes wrong or isn't as I expected I can just rollback to the previous version.

@mairin sorry but I don't know who else I could tag who would appreciate David's use of #foss and #fedora for art. I'm just so impressed and excited to have found this person. lol

:linux: My computer upgrade from GNU/Linux #Fedora 36 to the new #Fedora37 went smoothly! (#KDE spin) :blobcatheart: Even with more than 4800 packages installed. The full process was easy thanks to the detailed documentation on https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/quick-docs/dnf-system-upgrade/ 👍

I'll soon update my install guide for digital painters: https://www.davidrevoy.com/article913/fedora-36-kde-spin-for-a-digital-painting-workstation-reasons-and-post-install-guide but before that, I need to test it more than a month.

So far, really happy with the effortless upgrade process from one major release to another.

A screenshot of my main first monitor; a quadHD resolution of the KDE desktop environment running Fedora 37. A terminal (konsole) show info about my system with neofetch (mainly the name of the OS, and theme used, 32GB of Ram, a Ryzen 7 3700CPU and a Radeon RX 5500 graphic card). Also, more than 4800 packages, if it speaks about the number of upgrade I had to do. The screenshot also has a directory (Dolphin) open, with the episodes of Pepper&Carrot sorted correctly. In background, a speedpainting of Pepper&Carrot , enthusiast, on Krita, and with the number "37" in big.

Time for an second introduction, now I’ve moved over to a new instance. My name is Andrew, and I’m an Senior Infrastructure Officer in Local Government in the South West of the UK. I mainly work with #memcm, #microsoftteams, #microsoftexchange and other services to support my workplace.

I’ve been slowly working my way away towards Linux for home use and have fully converted all of my devices to #fedora (apart from the #SteamDeck ;) )

I’ve got interests in #gaming, #photography, and #linux.

I need a server OS that basically maintains itself (automatic updates… ideally automatic rollback on failure but at least manual rollback support).

So I’m looking into Fedora CoreOS but very few VPS hosts seem to support it (wish Hetzner did… that would be ideal for me).

The other one I’m considering is OpenSuse MicroOS.

Any other suggestions? Ideally ones supported by at least one VPS provider with speedy instance setup + an API.
