Screw your FUD about encryption being vaguely "dangerous", I say encrypt all the things, it has nothing to do with things being open or not. And screw your useless popularity contest between #ActivityPub and #Diaspora, I'm reading your useless drivel over ActivityPub because you yourself chose Mastodon to share it, and I would have read it the same if you chose Diaspora because the Diaspora protocol is open and #Friendica supports both ActivityPub and Diaspora protocols.

It works fine on #Friendica, it reposts from Twitter via a Nitter RSS feed (see the profile for details), but when it arrives on #Mastodon it lost all the photos.
Any idea where these are lost?

I feel torn between implicit vs. explicit mentions and detailed vs. condensed notifications. I switch both options every few weeks because I can't decide which I like better. 🤔

the #ActivityPub protocol doesn't allow hashtag following in the sense that all posts with that tag get into your timeline.
Didn't find much about that on the internet Can somebody confirm this? This would explain why Friendica doesn't do it either.

I've seen the introductions tag more frequently on Mastodon, and since we can now interact with Mastodon users and pin posts in #Friendica, I finally took the time. I think I wanted to explicit my social media policy more than anything else, but I felt it was a good fit for an introduction post.
Interestingly, I personally can't stand these conversational non-specific posts. Not only do I have nothing meaningful to reply, but they generate quite a bit of engagement which takes actual space in my #Friendica feed.
I've got nothing against the people doing it, it just is a personal social media pet peeve of mine.
I apologize for this problem. As the photos were lost over a course of a few days, while moving the data from one supported storage type to another (within Friendica), I decided I will not roll back the system, as this would have meant to loose all data from the time the fault was discovered to the rollback time.
Please feel free to reupload or reshare all the pictures and add new uploads!

Does the delegation work at the moment?
When I go to /delegation, then click "Manage your Accounts", then "Register an additional account" it works on one of my server, but not on the other? Any idea why?
Some small issue I would love to see rectified before the release is, the profile picture of an account disappears when I follow an account.
So first I search for an account or it shows up in my network stream. Then I go to the profile locally, there I see the profile and the profile picture, when I follow the account the profile is then shown with the white place holder profile picture. I then need to Re-Fetch to have the profile picture shown again.
Small thing it seems, but still annoying.
Since a few days sometimes my #mariadb load spikes to 140, anyone else see this, it just takes 1 minute and normalizes again. till now I was to slow to capture the mytop view, just the end of such thing in this capture.
When it is over the load normalizes at 0.8 again.
@Steffen K9 🐰 did you experience anything like that? I saw it twice, once yesterday and just now.

I will later switch friendica.utzer.de to the release candidate of #Friendica
This switch will cause a downtime due to database updates and other things, I will do this during the evening (central European time).
I files a #MariaDB bug, hat happens on my #Friendica server. Didn't really beliefe it is a bug in MariaDB, but there is a first comment seeming to be positive about my filed bug.

On my server, the server where is profile it hosted, the profile picture does not load anymore.
It shows a fault:

Any idea what is wrong?
Trying to move my storage from "filesystem" to "Database".
@Michael Vogel which direction of storage move are you doing? I am now wondering why the folder is not completely empty after it finished.
When I do
bin/console storage move -n 50[2021-02-24 14:25:46] Moved 0 files total but du -sh /path gives me 1,5G /path and there is really still folders and files in there. Is this files that are not used anymore?

If you're interested by the reasons, I can give you a few:
- Mastodon started in 2016. By that time, Friendica was already 6 years old and the original creator had already left the project 4 years before to work on RedMatrix/Hubzilla.
- Mastodon does one thing (micro-blogging) and does it well, Friendica does many things but often very confusingly. The real shining point is the wide protocol support, but this is a niche feature not many users really need.
- Mastodon benefitted from wide mainstream media coverage from at least 2017, although the tone has been mixed. Initially praised as the "new hot thing" by The Verge, it's also been criticized, often unfairly, but even bad publicity is publicity. In comparison, Friendica is virtually unknown and we are currently making no efforts to change this.
Own Post not in own stream

this post https://friendica.xyz/display/adf174d5-9060-33f7-bfb2-485620419111 did not appear in my owns stream /profile/montag. I can see the post on test accounts on Diaspora and on Libranet. If i click on the Link to original post i can see the post but with a weird address line: Montag via Montag
At the end of the day, I don't have time to figure out how not so bad an instance is, a few users is usually way more than I need to block a whole instance from my single-user #Friendica node.
Advanced #Friendica settings
...can be found in /static/defaults.config.php. Some of them are really useful, e.g. 'local_search' => true, blocks access to search for anonymous users so crawlers don't thrash your server. To apply them you need to copy the settings with values you want into your /config/local.config.php.
Friendica Mobile Clients
This is more for those using #Friendica, but I welcome any input.
What is your mobile app of choice to use with Friendica, that offers the best user experience, in your opinion? I am looking primarily at Android clients.
I feel as if I have downloaded them all, but I have not fully settled on one yet.
Perhaps @Hypolite Petovan would offer us his insight on this, too. . .

On friendica.utzer.de I got 4000 items in the queue, some of them date back to 16th Feb.
How can I check why these items are still in the queue and not processed? I had briefly upgraded to PHP8, maybe this is the reason, but how can I check what is going on?
You can "subscribe" to those tags by clicking on them (at least under Friendica) and click "follow" then. That's a healthier way (for the node network) instead of actively searching all nodes and causing a lot load on them. Don't see only yourself searching all alone, other users search, too!
