Surveys not supported, right?
Am I right when I assume that surveys are simply not supported bei #Friendica?
Not that I really miss them but just for my knowledge.
Mich nervte immer, dass Bilder, die an Posts hängen, einfach direkt verlinkt sind und mich somit jedes mal aus dem Lese-Flow rissen. Sie werden direkt geladen und man musste dann immer mit dem Zurück Button in die Timeline zurück. Oder man nutzte Tabs, was ich aber ständig vergaß (und "handlich" ist halt anders).
Mein Addon #Fancybox bindet nun die gleich lautende jQuery Library ein und ersetzt die Image Links so, dass sie in einem schicken Overlay dargestellt werden. Das Overlay erinnert mich sehr stark an das, was auch in Mastodon hoch poppt. Evtl nutzen die diese Lib auch?

That said, I do want to make sure people know the Fediverse is much more than Mastodon. The question is: when and how to introduce that?
is stay local broken in general? Can someone check?
Especially the links of the profile picture and "mastodon (AP)" in a view of a post from someone else, are these leading you to the remote site or do you stay local?

Does that work outside of the #Friendica world?

Pretty sure there are some that's been active for 10+ years. Which ones?
Context: Friendica has been around long before Mastodon, long before ActivityPub, and was always amazing about implementing open protocols of other networks.
It's now part of fedi, but also fedi's very real connection to the days of yore, when OStatus was a thing and the Earth was young.

Tutorial: Creating a Friendica Server with Ubuntu 22.04
The main Friendica documentation has install instructions for setting up the core part of the system. However it assumes that you have properly installed all the dependencies and leaves securing the system as an exercise to the user.N=1 Lifestyle
/etc/hosts to point to my local machine. Then in a /etc/apache2/sites-available/friendica.conf I setup a virtual host on that host name and even setup a self-signed SSL certificate so I can run #Friendica locally. To be able to receive mails locally, as I have #Linux running here, I had to a bit patch Friendica to disable a regex check on the entered email address. Now when I want to locally federate with e.g. #GNUSocial I just have to repeat above steps and I remember I was able to setup "remote" follow between these two local instances. For Windows users, there is #WinAMP around for a very long time, including #Mercury mail server so you could be able to repeat it even on Windows.
Handling video with Friendica
today i was about to upload #video to my #friendica account , but figured no possible way to do this.
When i'm about to upload file, i get "bad request". I also did not found the way to upload it into "files section".
Embedding from #youtube also does not work for me.
Is there any way to use video in posts in friendica at this moment?

I just had the great or dump idea (could not test it out yet) to reactivate my Facebook account to advertise the #fediverse, and especially #Friendica . I drew my motivation from the text
With Friendica, you can also fully interact with anyone on Twitter, post on Facebook and receive any content on Tumblr, Wordpress or RSS. How about updating the README.md regarding the state-of-the-art in 2022?

Aber was für #Friendica vielleicht auch hilfreich sein könnte, wäre bspw. zum #Wiki beizutragen und da Inhalte oder Übersetzungen zu ergänzen oder zu aktualisieren. da sind leider noch so einige Lücken: https://wiki.friendi.ca/de/start
nun wenn ich es richtig gelesen habe, soll man den ja "normalerweise" nicht mehr nutzen sondern den Daemon Starten.
Aber wie hier in de Verlauf schon andere geschrieben haben, nutzen sie den Cronjob um den Daemon immer mal wieder zu starten, was er ja wohl nicht macht wenn er schon läuft und wenn nicht dann einfach neu startet.
so manchmal fehlt mir einfach die Dokumentation von #friendica in speziellen Fällen.
ja nun bei root access auf einen virtuelle oder bare metal maschine gibt es ja damit keine Probleme. Deswegen dachte ich nachdem #friendica ja als möglich auf Shared Host System angepriesen wird, das man auch hierfür eine nette Lösung hätte.
Friendica auf Yunohost - Update => Weiße Seiten
nach dem Update meiner Friendica Instanz (auf YunoHost), habe ich unter /network, /profile/(user) und /community weiße Seiten. Schaue ich mir die HTML-Source an, so ist da komplett nix.
YunoHost ist 11.0.10.2 stable
Friendica war die 2022.06 und ist jetzt 2022.10~ynh1
Laut der Admin-Übersicht ist das jedoch 'Giant Rhubarb' 2022.12-dev - 1488
Hat da einer einen Tipp, was ich machen kann? Muss ich nach dem Update über die Oberfläche noch irgend ein Script aufrufen?

Participating on polls from Friendica
@Friendica Support : Just a curious question:
I follow quite a lot of mastodon account, and in the last days, mastodon users seem to develop a passion for polls.
I noticed that I am on my friendica instance are not able to participate in these polls since the content is only included in plain text.
Does #Friendica just do not support polls, or is it only my instance / a missing add-on that prevents me to participate in polls?
@Hypolite Petovan what will be best practice to get started to support developers? Unfortunately, I not that much experience in open source community social culture. I guess participating the discussion on the git site?

I'm not used to do this, but with the large influx of new users and node admins recently coming from #Twitter, our small team is now behind the curve for handling support requests, bug reports and bring about much-needed features.
The project is built on a #PHP / #MySQL platform, but we also need people to be able to assist others just using the software to give developers some space.
