Mudança de instância - Instance move

Dentro de um dou dois dias irei, finalmente, mudar para a minha instância definitiva.

Ao contrário do que tinha pensado, não optei pela plataforma #Hubzilla. Continuo a achar que é a melhor dentro do #Fediverse, mas tem muitas funcionalidades que não me fazem falta.

Considerei o #Mastodon, mas desisti da ideia. É muito pesado e limitado! 500 caracteres é ridículo! E, para além disso, não se liga à #diaspora.

Ainda pensei na Pleroma, que não tem o limite ridículo dos 500 caracteres, mas também não liga à #diaspora.

Resultado, decidi voltar a uma velha e fiel amiga, a #Friendica. É leve, simples mas potente, não tem limites parvos de escrita e fala com todos!

Por isso, já sabem, se daqui a um par de dias receberem um convite dum tal joao@social.pinheirodeabrantes.pt, sou eu!

E agora terei de publicar este texto usando a minha antiga conta da plataforma Friendica por causa do tal limite parvo, só porque ele tem 1993 caracteres!

In a couple of days I will finally move to my own instance.

Contrary to what I had thought, I didn't choose the #Hubzilla platform. I still think it is the best within the #Fediverse, but it has many features that I don't need.

I considered #Mastodon, but gave up on the idea. It's too heavy and limited! 500 characters is ridiculous! And on top of that, it doesn't connect to #diaspora.

I still thought about Pleroma, which doesn't have the ridiculous 500 character limit, but it also doesn't link to #diaspora.

As a result, I decided to go back to an old and faithful friend, #Friendica. It's light, simple yet powerful, has no silly writing limits and talks to everyone!

So, now you know, if in a couple of days you receive an invitation from joao@social.pinheirodeabrantes.pt, that's me!

And now I will have to publish this text using my old Friendica platform account because of that silly limit, just because it has 1993 characters!

Wie viele Nutzer hast du denn auf deiner Instanz laufen?
Also ich hab gerade mal 3 aktive und einer davon ist ein Bot.

Die Datenbank war auch immer das Problem von der Größe.
Ich habe dann die Avatar Bilder nicht mehr in der Datenbank gespeichert (das war irgendeine Einstellung) und dann wurde die immer kleiner und kleiner.

Ich vermute mal daran wird es wohl liegen, das #friendica so langsam reagiert, oder wurden irgendwelche Indizes nicht oder nicht so ganz glücklich gesetzt Aber dazu kann ich nichts sagen, das ich da noch nie nachgeschaut habe.

Habe das nur in anderen großen Arbeitsprojekten festgestellt, das dies manchmal wunder gewirkt hat.
Hier könnten wohl nur die erfahrenen Entwickler was dazu sagen.

Let me start with a concrete, question: Are there any efforts / plans to support the upload of videos?

And now, since I might have your attention, allow me to broaden the question to:

What is your opinion regarding "what #Friendica is / should be"?

My view / vision is heading slightly in the direction that nowadays image and video content is quite central in social networks and thus a #Fediverse application like friendica should support the multimedia aspect a bit more, if it wants to be attractive for the broad public in terms of being an alternative to commercial social networks.

Most of you might tell: "Yeah, if one prefers media centric Fediverse, then check out #pixelfed ". But I think, pixelfed is yet too much of an Instagram clone, only providing the image / video focus (which bothered me at Instagram from the very beginning not being able to have good commenting / discussion options there).

In my view, Friendica has great potential becoming a great "one fits all" application for the majority of people who like social media and the concept of the Fediverse. It has way more cool functions than #mastodon / pixelfed (which are in my opinion too close copies of Instagram and Twitter, respectively) but much simpler and convenient than Hubzilla (which I think is really great, for a computer science person, but not for the broad non-technical focussed public)

Wrapping it up: I would love to see a Friendica development towards an easier multimedia support. What are your thoughts?

Hello,
I am just learning how to administer a PHP application. I have run into a problem. In general, I activated the addon through the admin panel, on the server, edited the file phpmailer.config.php. However, sending still doesn't work. Can you please tell me if I need to do something else to make it work? I'm attaching the config.
