!Friendica Support Is there a way, guide, hint on whether or how to migrate existing wordpress blog posts at large into a #Friendica instance? For certain reasons, I wonder whether I want to replace my (self-hosted) Wordpress with a single-user Friendica installation but am unsure whether this is a good idea to consider...
@Kristian I recommend against it. Friendica allows for longer posts, but the limited content discovery tools makes it a poor replacement for a purpose-built blogging platform. I have a single-user instance and I also maintain my WordPress blog in parallel.
@Hypolite Petovan Thanks for your thoughts. Could you by chance elaborate on what you see missing here, content-discovery-wise? One of the reasons to consider alternatives is that I really don't use much of WordPress' features at all...
@Kristian There's no current way to limit the search (either tags or full text) to a specific author for example. Not sure if categories are public either.
@Hypolite Petovan
Ah ok, that kind of stuff. Different authors wouldn't be much of a problem as that's just me. And for search... I'm recently playing around with more lightweight blogging tools like Bludit and search seems mostly challenging virtually everywhere. Maybe I'll do some exploring here. Thanks for your comments on that. 🙂
On the topic of blogs though, as I was going through the Friendica "Moderation" settings the other day, by pure chance (I also run an instance-of-one, so don't normally moderate myself) I noticed there was a listing for "Blog accounts: 0". That made me wonder what a "Blog account" actually is, within Friendica?

I do know what a Blog is in general (I have one, outside of Friendica). 😁
