Niche mobile web development question

In #Friendica we have a couple links which click event is captured by a listener.

On desktop browsers, this works as expected and the underlying href attribute is ignored (unless clicked with the middle mouse button, which is expected).

On the #iOS #Safari app, this also works as expected. However, when I add Friendica as a home screen app, a click on these links triggers both the event listener and navigates to the href URL.

Does anyone know why web views behave differently and/or how to prevent the double action specifically in this context?

Please reshare/boost for reach!

The GitHub repo for PeerTuber, the upcoming opensource mobile app for #PeerTube is now live. There's still a bit of housekeeping to do, but this is where you'll find the project: https://github.com/PeerTuber/PeerTuber

@Hank G ☑️ could Relatica save the information which group/circle was viewed last and start with that instead of my general timeline? Or maybe a setting which group to show when starting the app?

I've updated my free #iOS comet app so that it now shows you the location of #Comet #Nishimura (C/2023 P1) in the night sky. It might be visible with the naked eye in dark areas this weekend!

#kbin + #lemmy app is coming along. Here's a preview of the upcoming beta. This is less than a week’s worth of work, so it’s only up from here 😉

Based on polls, looks like Artemis is winning for the name. Which is a great tribute to #ApolloApp 🙏

Stalk my work and suggest ideas in the app's Discord server (link in bio).

Regarding #Email, they are end-to-end encrypted if the email application supports #SMIME.

As you know, this isn't commonplace because of the rise of centralized emails servers that simply won't allow said functionality due to its incompatibility with their #SurveillanceCapitalism based business models.

Luckily, more email is happening via Apple Mail, courtesy of #iOS, which actually fully supports S/MIME for digitally signing and/or encrypting emails.

So #iOS apps need to have a privacy policy, that is to say, even while all Mastodon servers have each their own privacy policy, the app also needs a separate privacy policy. The question I have is, what do I write in it if the app doesn't itself store any data, it connects to a server of the user's choosing, like a browser...

There is one #truth: as long as #Pixelfed hasn’t a native #iOS and #Android #App it won‘t grow. For now (without the #Apps) it‘s a huge step to join this cool #Federation project...

(#Fedilab and Co. is just a #pita ...!)
