If you want other people to be able to find your posts, you need to #Hashtag the keywords

People, please start using CamelCase (aka PascalCase) to break apart words in #HashTags.

It makes it easier to read and more #accessible. Single words are OK to keep lowercase, unless they are proper nouns 😉

If there is a #hashtag in the text, you also get a list of used hashtags at the end of the note or comment. If you click on the #hashtag inside the text, it links to the instance the comment or posting is coming from, if you click on the hashtag at the end, you open the search for this hashtag on your instance. So you have the choice. I like it this way.

The posts you mention are meant to add tags to other people's posts where you had no access to the body.

You're doing quite well (better than the average idiot I know!). Use #hashtags to mention a subject. People on each 'instance' can find that 'toot' through the #hashtag.
For the rest... it depends on what you aim to do here. 🙂

du kannst auch ein #hashtag nach interesse in die suche eingeben. dann erscheint rechts oben ein plus-zeichen mit dem du das quasi speichern /abonnieren kannst.

is there an option to hide these connector messages from the conversation tree? I have sometimes added tags and surely these messages are required to make but normally they can be hidden because nobody else except the adding account sees them.

I don't want them generally hidden, only as an option in personal settings.

Never mind guys I totally misunderstood what I read and therefore I made a wrong analysis.

However I was referring in terms of UI/UX, I have been using Mastodon for quite month and still find it cumbersome and counterintuitive, when eventually I got how to add personal columns with personal #hashtag it becomes so slow that I was pretty surprised. I added just two columns for a total of 8 hashtags; on Diaspora and Friendica I have an average of 60 hashtag and never get so poorly performance...

Ending a post with a #hashtag seems to make the last word (hashtag) disappear since I switched to soapbox. If I put in a newline, still didn’t help, newline plus a “.” works. Bug? Or..
