It's how I did it. I can see the tradition continues.

If you were wondering what playdates are looking like in Brooklyn these days, they consist in bringing your iPad to your friend's so you can play a Minecraft clone in Roblox online together in the same room while your iPad is plugged to the nearest outlet you can find, which means you may end up playing on the floor.

My kid’s school has a holistic grading approach to periodical report cards, eschewing numbers and letters for a vague distance from grade expectations. Kids are either short of grade expectations, meeting them or exceeding them.

I understand the intent not to get fixated on a rigid alphanumerical scale, but it’s still possible to compare between disciplines. On their most recent report card, my 4th grade kid has been above grade in all the graded disciplines except writing where they “only” meet expectations, and I’ve been having the knee-jerk thought that they somehow needed more writing practice, which they absolutely don’t need.

I used to think Max Payne (2001) main drive for the protagonist to mow down an entire drug-selling criminal enterprise in search for his daughter a little gimmicky.

And yet here I am awake at 3 in the morning because I thought I faintly heard my kid cries in my partner’s light snoring pattern through my earplugs.

#parenting question: Should I make a cashapp account as a way for them to have their own money? (they're gonna do some arts and such to sell online as part of Aldercone, plus like the stuff we already been doing)

edit: no question btw that the money they get hawkin their shit (even if I'm doing the hawking) will be given to them, just trying to figure out giving it to them ysee

Other parents and also teenagers, what do you think?

I've hardly ever been able to get through this story verbally, so I wrote it down. It's definitely a period piece without meaning to be.

Plus a toddler can tap on the glass and the teenager at the other end of the store does not care.

When you are a parent, you have to make sacrifices, like finishing a box of nasty novelty cereal your kid picked in the store and said they didn't like after a spoonful.

#Kids notice when you pay attention to them and when you don't, when you answer favorably to their requests and when you don't. Nice words are important, but what you do or don't is even more important. Oftentimes just showing up is half the battle won.
