Part of the details concerning the cast domain is to figure out how to organize the tools #castopod gives us at hand as it looks like it has quite interesting options to organize cooperation, as stated briefly in a tutorial page created on that site, result of the #learningBYdoing process while installing it: brief Castopod tutorial

Last but not least, we are still trying to drag @lizzischmidt the creator and promotor of the #sundayGimp community experience that is alive and running for over a decade on #diaspora* on to our shores, but federation with diaspora, from a technical point of view, definitely has seen better times in the past. Maybe this very cross community chat option, added right here and now, can help to improve the communication for all of us.

This inicial publication will federate quite well out into the vast space of the #fediVerse, but to see comments from the diaspora bubble and the #activityPub sphear, youll have to visit this original page on this friendica server.

Hi there,
testing around with the software #castopod, developed by @Castopod 😛odcasting2: .

In general terms federation with #friendica works, even integration into public forum pages and reshare by those when the castopod profile is followed by the forum page in the first place, as tested with the forum page @podCasts. As of now following from castopod profiles apparently isn't implemented. Also as of now we didn't manage to get the cron job to work at that new instalation on a shared hosting.

What is strange is that a podcast episode publication doesn't embeed the audio player so it can't be reproduced inside the post shown over here on friendica. On mastodon this works, the post displayes a video like screen and reproduces the audio file.

Not sure if this is a specific issue of this friendica instance as it is stil 2023.05 or if this is something the latest versions experience to.

The uploaded audio file was in the format m4a.

Hallo Fediverse! Bitte um Rückmeldung + Ergänzungen: Übersichts-Tabelle mit Fediverse-Diensten, Vergleichsdiensten und Funktionen

Ich schreibe einen Artikel über den #FediverseFachtag und in dem Rahmen natürlich auch über das #Fediverse . Zielgruppe sind Leute, die wahrscheinlich zum Großteil noch gar nix vom Fediverse gehört haben.
Dazu bin ich dabei, eine Tabelle zu erstellen, in der einige Fedi-Dienste sowie deren Haupt-/ besondere Funktionen aufgeführt werden sollen.

Das ist der derzeitige Entwurf:

Ein Vergleich mit kommerziellen Plattformen ist natürlich immer nur zum Teil passend. Ich kenne auch keinen der kommerziellen Dienste aus eigener Erfahrung, aber für die avisierte Zielgruppe kann so ein Vergleich vielleicht trotzdem eine hilfreiche Orientierung sein. Vielleicht gibt es da aber auch Vergleiche, die passender sind. Einige Dienste (bspw. Medium, Podigee) kannte ich auch noch nicht mal vom Namen her, sondern habe das nur aus ähnlichen Vergleichstabellen übernommen.

Zu den "besonderen Funktionen":
Insbesondere Friendica, Firefish und v.a. Hubzilla haben so viele Funktionen, dass diese im Rahmen der Tabelle nur exemplarisch aufgeführt werden können und die Auswahl ist subjektiv. Hier wäre die Frage, ob das eine passende Auswahl ist, ob besonders wichtige fehlen oder ob andere Funktionen wichtiger oder besonderer sind.
