There’s another big superhero movie in cinemas, but after visual effects workers recently spoke out about their working conditions, I wanted to learn more about the history of visual effects and how it got this way.

In a new #techwontsaveus, I spoke to “Empire of Effects” author Julie Turnock to get the details on the influence of Star Wars and Industrial Light & Magic in the early days, and Marvel today.

Was reading about the fall of Gimlet Media and the drama/shitty behavior surrounding Reply All, and someone on Reddit recommended a new #podcast called #Underunderstood, which I just listened to the newest episode of. I really liked it so far.

This #podcast from The Guardian just stated that people came to #WhatsApp for is end to end encryption.

I’m pretty sure they didn’t.

I’d say it was because networks were charging up to £0.20 per SMS and £0.50 per MMS whereas WhatsApp allowed you to send as many messages as you like across WiFi or on your data package.
