Die Logik der Nichtunterstützung bei #Mastodon erschließt sich mir überhaupt nicht. Wer #Nonmentions nutzen will, nutzt dafür auf Twitter ohnehin Screenshots. Bei Mastodon bleibt einem ja gar keine andere Wahl - das Ziel wird ja mehr als verfehlt, weil es so *erst recht* Nonmentions gibt, da Leute bei Screenshots ja nicht erwähnt werden.
Finde es daher absolut unterstützenswert, dass das bei #Friendica unterstützt wird.

I have another problem, for a few days many pictures are missing in various posts, I just realized it because of empty posts, so I wondered why these are empty and found that the remote version got pictures in them.
It seem Firefox is not blocking anything and there is nothing for |grep Error in the #Friendica log.
This happens since 3 or 4 days on stable, I checked php info and it says there is gd and imagick running.

I've been trying to use #Friendica as an #RSS reader since accidentally discovering that it could be used as such. When I compare it to my previous RSS reader, I'm noticing that the entries in my feeds are being listed in an arbitrary and incomplete order. I have no idea why.

Immer dann, wenn in der Welt was geschieht, haben manche Nutzer der sozialen Medien ja das Bedürfnis, ihre Erkentnisse und Befindlichkeiten im Minutentakt der Welt mitzuteilen und die Timeline der Abonenten zu fluten. Dafür wünschte ich mir die Möglichkeit, manche Kontakte temporär zu blockieren oder stumm zu schalten. Ich werde da für #Friendica nachher mal ein Feature Request bei github schreiben ;-)

On friendica.utzer.de I have a very long queue, I know I have to do something to give the server more resources or change the setup somehow, but I am not sure if this is still normal that there is so many of this contact cleanup (kind of) jobs in the queue.

Sean is right, at #Friendica we retry unreachable profiles over a six months period, unless we receive an explicit account deletion message. Because a deleted server looks the same to us as a temporarily offline server, we have to be forgiving.

What won me over in #Friendica is the absence of notifications for likes. I’ve always enjoyed the existence of the Like feature that I use as a read confirmation when I enjoy a post but don’t have anything meaningful to rely.

This also means that I have nothing to do when I receive a Like, and while it’s nice to see on my own time, notifications for them like in Twitter are an unwelcome distraction.

This exists on #Friendica where we have a Twitter connector using an existing Twitter account to have a unified timeline in Friendica, and the Twitter account is used if you reply on a Twitter post imported in your timeline. It can also mirror your Fediverse posts to Twitter, and mirror your own Twitter posts to the Fediverse.

I just wanted to install updates on git.friendi.ca, when I found that the virtual HDD was pretty full, there were only 120 MB left.
Can you check if #gitea is running fine? Can you also check if there is any extensive archives stored that are not needed? I can and will add more storage to the VM, but I would like to know what are the expected needs. I guess code revision will take up some space, but I have no idea and feeling of how much space this takes up. Currently gitea uses about 6.6 GB in /var/lib

So the main goal is to check if the too less space caused any problems and second let me now about the expected needed space.
I guess another 10 GB should last for some time, but am not sure.

The same thought occurred to me several time over several years, and I'd rather boost an old post of mine rather than post the same exact post or even a minor variation of it. However the search isn't great in #Friendica so I often end up holding back and posting nothing.

One thing I've enjoyed about hosting my own #friendica server on the #fediverse is being able to dabble with the addons. Such as the language detection feature which will auto-hide languages that aren't on your list of known languages. Works pretty well.

With my old #friendica host shutting down I've decided to try my hand at self-hosting an instance over on my "My Social Portal" domain (like my Matrix server). So this is my new account for the time being (maybe forever who knows). I'd say follow the blue checkmark but that doesn't always propagate. My old @Hank G account though will disappear when that server shutsdown in a 2 weeks

Ich hoffe ich habe meine Kontakte von geraspora.de, mastodon.social und gruene.social jetzt alle erwischt und hier hinzugefügt. Auf jeden Fall werde ich jetzt meine Friendica-Instanz für alles was persönliches Social Media ist, benutzen und auch von hier folgen.

War für mich auch ein Denkprozess, dass ich mich bei allen möglichen dezentralen Plattformen angemeldet habe, nur um dann dort den lokalen Benutzer*innen zu folgen, obwohl das alles ja wunderbar von #friendica aus geht.

Wir macht ihr das mit thematisch fokussierteren Plattformen wie #peertube oder #pixelfed ?

Among the few #Twitter non-features, the one that takes the cake for me is the notifications about posts published by accounts you are already following.

If I understand correctly, this is the chain of causality:
  • Encourage users to follow as many accounts as possible to boost Engagment™.
  • Timeline becomes impossible to read, filter it.
  • Send notifications about posts that may have been missed because of the filter.



This is completely irrelevant for me since I only follow people I want to read everything they publish, and I'm doing so either on #Friendica or on Twitter where I regularly have to switch back to "Latest tweets first" from the non-chronological filtered timeline.
