Bright-eyed Brown butterfly - what a delight to see!
"This small butterfly (from the Nymphalidae or ‘Brown’ family) is known to inhabit peat swamps in coastal and inland areas in the far south-east of South Australia and western Victoria – habitat that has been significantly reduced by wetland drainage and other factors since colonisation. "
Butterflies on the Brink

The local creek has been replanted (over many years) with many native species including Carex, the larval plant of these little gems, while garden/paddock plantings of Leptospermum and Melaleuca spp. help as food-plants.

Of course, this may be the only bright-eyed brown for kilomiles - hopefully not - but i'm classing it as small (and beautiful) success.
i'm wrapt to the gills 😁

Taken on a trip to Tasmania this year, super deep in the middle of a temperate rainforest. I knew places like that still existed, but nothing really prepares you for actually being there.

It felt very special being a tiny thing surrounded by a mass of very fragile, very long-lived relics of what the earth looked like a long time ago.

A dense, misty forest filled with thick, moss-covered trees and large plants. The scene has an ethereal, otherworldly atmosphere with soft light filtering through the canopy. The twisted tree branches and lush green foliage create a mysterious and ancient feel, resembling a fantasy or enchanted woodland.

Absolutely brilliant from an Australian climate protester who reduces a Sky News presenter to a gibbering wreck.

This is how you do it.

Having people vote on whether or not to grant other people full human rights is as absurd and as revolting as it gets. This is where “the tyranny of the majority” prevails every time, and why democracy in itself is not enough for justice. #AboriginalRights #Australia #LastRT

Hi #fediverse friends, sorry it's been a while again, I'll explain soon!

For now just a quick question: should I move to #Perth, #Australia? 🦘

I'm looking for some penfriends

Hi everybody!

I'm looking for some penfriends from the Northern European countries, Canada, Greenland, Australia or New Zealand for long term letter exchange.

I love traditional writing tools and papers. And I also love learning about new people and different cultures.

If you think that you might be interested about exchanging letters with a Portuguese EFL teacher who is really interested in learning more about your lovely country and you, please, feel free to drop me a line or two.

Thanks.

Whenever I'll be asked where I come from, it will be easy to tell. "#Austria, not #Australia - The country where #covid incidence is one of the highest, not one of the lowest." - No more need to make use of #Mozart, cattle or #kangaroos.
