When the tech's backdoored, all those tracking and scanning technologies are menacing. [... even at the advertising level... I dread to think what I would have done with that power, when I was "just doing my job", working in advertising, before and I stopped. We're over a decade past the Snowden confirmation, and still some are still not even curious enough to websearch the matter. Like they want to ride the fallacy of mistaking absence of evidence as evidence of absence, without looking, to maintain their world view, and not confront the predicament.

Some small hope for projects like https://librephone.fsf.org/ to give us a chance at the driver level. But still problematic at the hardware level, production chain level, and design level, until we get libre hardware designs too, ideally with ability to print our own. And then maybe we could lick the cymatic cromulence issues too .... even the more mere care-negligent than the outright intentionally harming.
