#Twitter suspends #Mastodon account, prevents sharing links: Our statement

https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2022/12/twitter-suspends-mastodon-account-prevents-sharing-links/
@Mastodon
Understanding that freedom of the press is absolutely essential for a functional democracy, we are excited to see Mastodon grow and become a household name in newsrooms across the world, and we are committed to continuing to improve our software to face up to new challenges that come with rapid growth and increasing demand.
No love for the #Fediverse, huh? I understand you are the coolest kid in the room right now, so please be mindful of your behavior and decentralize the attention.

@Hypolite Petovan Totally agreed! I've blocked him and I'm in the process of stopping #Mastodon altogether! 😀 Sharing his toot was a way to show people exactly that and how the #birdsite is functioning!
@João Pinheiro Who did you block? What are you planning on stopping?
@Hypolite Petovan I blocked Eugene and I'm dropping the use of Mastodon!
@João Pinheiro Got it. The software is fine though, and while I acknowledge they're the biggest #Fediverse player, I wish they were more gracious about the larger network.
I had never imagined such a thing happening on the bird site, a couple of months ago. But all the events that happened during past few weeks points to the importance of decentralized platforms like Mastodon during the internet age. All the best to Mastodon and Fediverse.
I also hope so. But Twitter is coming up with another protocol called the Bluesky which is not related to ActivityPub.
@finickydesert I like to think we would try, but it's mostly a @Michael Vogel question, he's been taking point on protocol support.
Well, do you think that there is any team member left on Twitter for "Bluesky"?
@Michael Vogel@finickydesert Fair point, I was wondering about SOLID protocol support as well?
wondering if Mastodon pushes any ideology or it’s free for all in the true sense? I’m new here and looking for a sincere take on this.
@Yemi Ifegbuyi@Mastodon Yes, it pushes the ideology that social media is better when it isn’t proprietary. What are you worried about?
