Question about #ubuntu #linux #kernel...

My updated ubuntu 26.04.01 is still using a 6.17 OEM kernel:

$ uname -r

6.17.0-1032-oem


But it looks like a newer 7.0 kernel has been installed:

$ dpkg --list | grep linux-image | grep "^ii"

ii linux-image-6.17.0-1032-oem 6.17.0-1032.32 amd64 Signed kernel image oem
ii linux-image-7.0.0-38-generic 7.0.0-38.38 amd64 Signed kernel image generic

Should I update to use the 7.0 kernel? How do I do that?

::: Linux 6.2 will include mainline support for Apple M1 hardware!

Currently, if running Apple M1/M2 Macs & wishing to put Linux in, one should use the Asahi Linux kernel.

There are drivers not yet mainlined, but bit by bit all is to go into the upstream Linux.

Nice OOTB experience for Apple's Arm-based hardware on mainline Linux will happen in near future; then there'll be no need to specifically use Asahi Linux.

@7homas ♓🖖‍@utzer ~Friendica~ Bitte bachte, dass ein #Kernel kaum mehr CPU-Zyklen benoetigt, die selbige Datei aus z.B. einem Dateicache zu laden. Wenn z.B. Apache eine Datei direkt ausliefert, entfaellt der ganze Overhead von der Datenbank + Kommunikation ueber den Socket.
