#writers and #authors , do you know of any #opensource solutions to help plan and write a novel? I’ve tried Joplin and like it but it’s not the most streamlined. I’m looking for something minimal (like Vim) but that is available on either web, iOS/iPadOS, Linux, Windows.

#HappyNewYear! I’m Jon Reed (@jonreed), and I founded Publishing Talk in 2007. It’s an educational website for #authors, and includes advice on #writing, getting published, #SelfPublishing and marketing books. I’m an #author myself, and was a #publisher for 10 years.

Been on the bird site for years, but this feels like a better place to build a #WritingCommunity.

Interested in boosting #WritingTips and other advice for authors here - as well as sharing blog posts. #AmWriting #Introduction

As a little girl, I only ever saw people like me in books about Thanksgiving, written by white people.
This is how my bookstore, Paperbacks & Frybread came to be.
We launched online March of this year, vowing to help families of all kinds have easier access to THEIR stories and other #diverse & inclusive #reads.
It has been the most joy curating our selection and hearing feedback from people who didn’t realize there were #books and #authors with people just like them.
#indigenous #bookstodon
Flat lay of three paperback books on top of lace and faux florals. Included is “An Indigenous People’s’ History of the United States”, “Ancestor Approved”, and “The Only Land I Know”.

I didn't need another reason to loathe and avoid #Disney but you may use a nudge. #DisneyMustPay

When Disney bought Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox, they neglected to do something: pay royalties on contracted works as part of the sale.

"Disney’s argument is that they have purchased the rights but not the obligations of the contract. In other words, they believe they have the right to publish work, but are not obligated to pay the writer no matter what the contract says."
