Timescales

Once,
so long ago,
when youth was more than dream,
and dreams had life,
I lived and loved,
as ancient tides rolled free.

Then,
as life moved on,
through unremembered shores,
and dreams now lost,
I lived, and hoped
past life was not so lost

Now,
life limps, as lamed
by years that injure dreams
devoured by age.
I watch. I wait.
I hope time, yet, may live.

On,
into those sighs
dreams meet in grey haired sleep.
I am so tired
of all that’s passed,
my hopes seem so misplaced.
