The same thought occurred to me several time over several years, and I'd rather boost an old post of mine rather than post the same exact post or even a minor variation of it. However the search isn't great in #Friendica so I often end up holding back and posting nothing.

One thing I've enjoyed about hosting my own #friendica server on the #fediverse is being able to dabble with the addons. Such as the language detection feature which will auto-hide languages that aren't on your list of known languages. Works pretty well.

With my old #friendica host shutting down I've decided to try my hand at self-hosting an instance over on my "My Social Portal" domain (like my Matrix server). So this is my new account for the time being (maybe forever who knows). I'd say follow the blue checkmark but that doesn't always propagate. My old @Hank G account though will disappear when that server shutsdown in a 2 weeks

Friendica Directory version 2.3.4 released
I've just published another minor release of the #Friendica Directory project, it turns out the Hungarian translation was available but not enabled in the language selector, thanks to @Úr Balázs for the good catch!

is it possible that the content filters (Advanced Content Filter, NSFW) do not work on Mastodon contacts?

When I enter the URL of a Mastodon post at "Show Post Variables" in the content filter, the message "Unknown post with the guid ..." appears.

Ich hoffe ich habe meine Kontakte von geraspora.de, mastodon.social und gruene.social jetzt alle erwischt und hier hinzugefügt. Auf jeden Fall werde ich jetzt meine Friendica-Instanz für alles was persönliches Social Media ist, benutzen und auch von hier folgen.

War für mich auch ein Denkprozess, dass ich mich bei allen möglichen dezentralen Plattformen angemeldet habe, nur um dann dort den lokalen Benutzer*innen zu folgen, obwohl das alles ja wunderbar von #friendica aus geht.

Wir macht ihr das mit thematisch fokussierteren Plattformen wie #peertube oder #pixelfed ?

Among the few #Twitter non-features, the one that takes the cake for me is the notifications about posts published by accounts you are already following.

If I understand correctly, this is the chain of causality:
  • Encourage users to follow as many accounts as possible to boost Engagment™.
  • Timeline becomes impossible to read, filter it.
  • Send notifications about posts that may have been missed because of the filter.



This is completely irrelevant for me since I only follow people I want to read everything they publish, and I'm doing so either on #Friendica or on Twitter where I regularly have to switch back to "Latest tweets first" from the non-chronological filtered timeline.

There might be a planned downtime tomorrow 14:00 CET. I am still figuring out if it is necessary to swap the NVME storage drive of the server and am in contact with the hosting company.

Please prepare for about 4-6 hours downtime to allow raid resync.

It might be much shorter, but I feel more comfortable with that prognosis.

Also if you know your way around NVME replacement and raid resync I am open for suggestions on how to do this, maybe it is possible to resync the system while it is running, last time I did not manage to do this and had to use a rescue live #Linux system to recover.

Dear !Friendica Support, I'm slowly setting up my #Friendica instance and I'd appreciate some hints.
Is there a way so when going to the my instance homepage recent public posts of instance members will be displayed along side the login form?
Also when trying to follow a contact entering its profile url is working fine but when entering email style address like helpers@forum.friendi.ca I am getting an empty page in the web browser.

I've been in this exact situation, and what worked for me to relieve the disappointment was twofold:
1. Identify what drew me to a project in the first place, and what task I ended up not doing when I lost interest. For me, the former was designing a game engine, and the latter was publishing it to other people. I made my peace with it, and now I know what engages me and what doesn't.
2. Involve myself in a project I am using. This has helped me stay engaged since I'm personally using what I'm working on. This has worked for me as a part of the #Friendica development team. I'm still picky about the tasks I'm taking on, but being part of a team means that what I don't do is likely to be picked up by someone else, and the other way around, I'm picking up tasks that other team members would prefer not to have to handle.

Ich versuche schon seit längerem, mit meinem #Friendica Account dem User @hubzilla zu folgen. Klappt nicht. Fehlermeldung:
Der Netzwerktyp wurde nicht erkannt. Der Kontakt kann nicht hinzugefügt werden.
überhaupt ist mir aufgefallen, dass ich kaum (keinen?) Hubzilla-Content mit meinem Friendica Account sehe. Kann mir da jemand auf die Sprünge helfen?

C’est vrai, #Friendica est compatible avec #Diaspora, #ActivityPub (Mastodon, Misskey, PeerTube…) et #OStatus (GNU Social, StatusNet) et même #IMAP nativement.

I made a post from this account, reshared it from @utzer <Mastodon> @utzer (on squeet.me) and @Admin (of friendica.utzer.de), got three notifications at this account here, all the reshares are shown on the post itself too.

But the #Mastodon reshare is shown in the top (green), while the #Friendica reshares are shown in the bottom (purple). Why?
