Before me asking others here in the #fediverse for recommendations about #Fdroid #apps , I did not know about #KryptEY

https://github.com/amnesica/KryptEY

It is an #Android keyboard for secure #E2EE communication through the #signal protocol in any messenger.

Sometimes criminals close the door when plotting crimes.

β€œWe should ban doors!” 🚫πŸšͺ

Sometimes criminals hide weapons under their clothes.

β€œWe should ban clothes!” πŸš«πŸ‘–

πŸ™ƒ

Do not fall for these misguided arguments.

Most of the time people use end-to-end encrypted apps to talk about the most mundane things.

Sometimes vulnerable people use end-to-end encryption to protect themselves and stay safe.

We should keep and cherish encryption.

We should demand it everywhere.

End-to-end encryption protects our human right to privacy and safety.

We must fight for it! βœŠπŸ”’

"The Danger Of Privacy At All Costs"

People have to make a decision. You can only choose one.

Do you want freedom / human autonomy?

Or do you want pretend safety?

Ben Franklin quote:

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

Thomas Jefferson: "I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery"

running a #matrix server as of now (using the python-written server) requires resources indeed, but #E2EE doesn't, really [largst public test room has 250+ people and works well]. Especially if you won't subscribe to large federated rooms.
But running a "normal" server (like matrix.grin.hu) is manageable as well. And using matrix as a messaging layer is pretty simple, may be done with 3 lines of bash and curl.

Here is the first leak I've seen from the Commission's upcoming "we-will-break-into-everyone's-private-chats" law. #CSAM #digitalrights #e2ee #privacy

This looks like a shameful general #surveillance law entirely unfitting for any free democracy.

Successfuly received and decrypted the first @matrixdotorg@twitter.com messages with #e2ee. But still a lot of work to do before RemindMe will be able to fully handle end to end encryption.

In case someone wants to help me out:

Researchers: No, your servers can read stuff.

πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ: OK, but our encryption is good enough. We don't need e2ee.

I never liked #Telegram in first place.

Shady homebrew crypto that once got broken, crowning themselves as "savior of #privacy" when nobody can verify the whole stack, and now this: #ads in chats.

Use #XMPP with proper #e2ee (like #OMEMO) or nothing at all. You can't have a realistic expectation of privacy otherwise.
