The principle is called oxygenic photosynthesis. Plants take up water and CO2 and use light energy to produce oxygen and carbohydrates, i.e. energy-rich organic compounds, the origin of all higher life on earth. If you didn't learn this in school, you shouldn't try to even lecture others with your ignorance.
@Christian Bredlow 🌿: Yeah, s/he seems to have taken a turn lately towards the doom'ish death-cult. I found a lot of the previous postings actually quite interesting and informative.
As for ignoring, 'anonymiss' has a while back stopped sharing with me. No idea why, but that's ok (seems she mistook me for someone else using my 'name' on a different pod; @anonymiss: you're welcome to chime in here, if you'd like).
That said, I am surely in favor of taking care of one's surroundings (commonly called 'the environment'). Though 'saving the climate' is utter semantical horsecrap, since 'climate' is a statistical value and there's nothing to be saved about it!
Real change needs to come from within, not from above. We do need to respect what we have and live within, no argument from my side here. But I definitely question the global push by Corpocrats for some vague notions, all the while lining up to fill their coffers. It is not even funny anymore, but tragic, how especially leftists (greens included) are making themselves toolz of capitalism reinventing itself by creating 'new markets' out of supposedly thin air (pun intended). Hook, line and sinker millions, especially young, impressionable folks, fall for the massive propaganda, that will do nothing, Nothing good for either 'the environment' nor 'the people' living in it. Nor is that the intention and it's painful to watch the diversion of arguably good intentions (by common people) towards nefarious goals!
Yeah "doomish" is well said. In particular she/he tried to twist the fact that plants need CO2 as fundamental food into a claim as if plants need oxygen while CO2 harms them, which is simply a nonsensical lie. Everybody can easily see the lie. Not worth discussing it. If we want to protect the environment, we need to understand it and live with it. Political hysterical propaganda won't help. It's just meant to steal more money and freedom from us.
