!Friendica Support Stupid question regarding Friendica post visibility: Should a post sent as restricted for "followers only" also be visible for #mastodon / #activitypub followers? Or is that a different mechanism? Used that feature frequently and wondered whether these posts don't have that much visibility, and just noticed that my Mastodon account that is following my Friendica account (and vice versa) doesn't see a restricted Friendica post...?
"followers only" should work like a charm.
@Michael Vogel Any way to debug that, then? If looking at my Friendica profila via the Mastodon account and at todays posts, the "follower-only" one is missing there it seems. Everything else (including the above posts to friendica support) shows up well there...
Surely there are ways to debug it. We have got a log of log entries. But currently I'm fighting with other ugly bugs, also I'm at work, so most likely I can have a look at it in a few days.
@Michael Vogel No problem, thanks. Most likely it will more require @Matthias/E than me as he has access to the log files on the instance... I'll keep an eye on that meanwhile and see if this really reproduces all the time.
What do you mean by "see a restricted post"? The post should be delivered to your Mastodon followers, but it won't appear in the profile page on Mastodon (or Friendica) and will not be accessible by the /display URL either.

@Hypolite Petovan Hmmm, that's ... interesting. How to see these then, after all? Like, in example, the top-post of this thread is visible to me if, in this setup in Mastodon, I browse to my Friendica account and look at the profile. It's like "non-public" posts are handled in Mastodon as well if I remember correctly...

Between Friendica system, I believe we use magic auth to allow users to see followers-only content on a remote profile, but there's no such thing with Mastodon, and I don't know how they manage incoming followers-only posts. However, if they never received it (because their server had no followers of yours), I don't think they can fetch it later.

@Hypolite Petovan For what I see now, the post apparently _has_ made it to the Mastodon instance I'm on, yet I am unsure how I can verify whether (or not) i can see it there. Text search doesn't seem to retrieve anything, and remotely looking at my Friendica profile also doesn't help here.

I can see your post. I'm on friendica (libranet.de) So since we don't connect on friendica, should I see your post? if not, then I'm seeing your post from mastodon.
@Hypolite Petovan (Adding to that: Tried #tusky right now, with both accounts active, selected that particular post in my Friendica account on my Friendica profile, said Open as <mastodon user> and saw an error that <uri> could not be resolved. For public posts, it generally seems to work, same as for this thread which by Mastodon is considered "unlisted".)
@Michael Vogel
So maybe Mastodon has their own magic auth, probably the Authenticated Fetch we may not be supporting yet.

@Hypolite Petovan Ah ok. Wasn't sure / aware whether or not this is part of #activitypub or some other standardized protocol or something special to either of the two platforms.
