Indeed! HEH! Well, you saw the reply dudes on here that didn't even read the Github! Smile. One thing has always baffled me about wanting to keep the character limit smaller. Having a bigger default character limit doesn't stop people from writing shorter posts! I don't get this hatred for walls of text, as they put it! I get it that maybe the visual UX isn't designed for reading lengthy posts, but then again, there are a huge number of instances like yours and mine that have a character limit of 5,000 or more. Also, if you're a developer and didn't foresee that people would write more on instances with larger character limits, I, again, have to question if *anyone* developing Mastodon actually uses it? I've been here since, about, 2018 or so, 2017 ish or so, and I can't stress how so much easier it is to tell tech oriented Fedi from those of us that don't really wanna be drowned in tech every day. That's where all the reply guys come from and while they see their behavior as a feature, I see it as a wilful ignorance of differing perspectives, almost always a fellow marginalized person in some way. Case and point, these people didn't even read the proposal nor read any of the links I provided. They just wanted to keep Fedi the same to keep "NORMIES" out but that's silly. You can't have your profest open web you all love so much and keep normies out. It doesn't work that way! In my experience, these are the very same people that don't understand why people don't wanna interact with them and even talk to them. In their heads, they should be able to converse with anybody they want, because of something something something open web but it always astounds me that these very people act all shocked and bemused when normies come into their space. They invited them in with their open web no boundaries nonsense! It is a style of hypocrisy or cognitive disitance I can't explain to myself or others! @toplesstopics
