A buddy of mine suggested that I look into #jitsi so I did, and so should you.

If you value #FOSS and you have a need for video calling / conferencing, and if you also are elated when you find such competitors to the leading software in the field but which actually functions better (by several metrics) on top of being FOSS, then yeah.. this is for you.

good call - Jitsi's great! And if you *really* want to be blown away, have a look at BigBlueButton - https://bigbluebutton.org (also fully #LibreSoftware) - it supports very large groups, has breakout rooms, and lots of additional functionality. Try the demo.
Another one I shamelessly need to plug here is https://opentalk.eu/ - discaimer: I'm working on the backend there. @OpenTalkMeeting
@silwol is OpenTalk open source? I see the word 'open' used a lot on the site and in the brand... but nothing about availability of the source code. What does OpenTalk mean by 'open'? I don't promote proprietary code for these reasons: https://davelane.nz/proprietary @jq @OpenTalkMeeting
It's #FreeSoftware, as you mention EUPL. As a free software guy since ~20y I also don't promote non-free software. When I joined the team, one of the first tasks was to prepare the open-sourcing, we decided do declare licenses using https://reuse.software/ compatible format. There is an extended version with a few extra features, but those should not be necessary for all standard use cases. Also because the project is fairly young, expect a few rough edges. https://gitlab.opencode.de/opentalk/controller

@silwol ok - after searching, I see that it's released under the EUPL - need to investigate that... It'd be cool if the code was clearly linked to from the front page (and the words "open source" or "libre" were included in the front-page to help identify the nature of the business) so that people like me don't discount it at a glance. @jq @OpenTalkMeeting
@lightweight @OpenTalkMeeting I totally concur that the code could be linked more prominently on the website, although I've seen worse. I would totally prefer reading "source code" somewhere instead of searching for the "community" version. On the other hand I'm not responsible for the whole website topic - and believe me - it would be much worse if I were. 😉
