Are you using the checkbox?

!Friendica Support Dear fellow #friendica people. There is an ongoing effort to improve the UI showing posts in #frio.

Please answer the following question(s):

  1. Have you ever used the checkbox on the very right?
  2. If you have previously used that checkbox, can you share your use-case?

This question came up during some recent work on improving the post UI. For desktop the action icon description is gone resulting in a less busy / cleaner UI. Another change being worked on is, to move interaction counters next to the action icon instead of showing them in a second row below.

@Wilhelm Rarely used equivalent of the "Remove locally" function in the Sandwitch menu. This should be removed if necessary, as it does the same thing.

@Wilhelm These days, I’m using it regularly to remove posts I can’t read (mainly in German and Finnish) from my timeline so I don’t scroll over them again in the future.

I never had more than one Post to delete though.

@Wilhelm Yes, I actually used the checkbox quite a few days ago. I do not use it so often, indeed, but it's useful to batch delete spammy or otherwise unwanted comments or posts in my feed 😁

Another change being worked on is, to move interaction counters next to the action icon instead of showing them in a second row below.


Will there be a way to still see who liked/disliked/reshared your post?

@Cătă Do you think a delete option in the "more" aka "…" menu would suffice your use-case?

Not being able to show users who interacted with the post is a known shortcoming. I don't know if and if yes, when that will be addressed but I agree it is something that should be tackled.

@Wilhelm there is already a delete option in the more menu afaik. The checkmark is useful to select more things to delete at once instead of deleting these one by one

@Wilhelm I use this a few times a month.
I delete long discussions that don't interest me to keep my TL clear. If it‘s the same functionality as the Delete Local Option under the More Button on the left, the checkbox is more comfortable.

@Wilhelm I regularly use the checkbox to delete posts that don't interest me, that are written in a language I don't know or that share screenshots without a link to the source of the news.

I made some custom themes based on Frio for our instance. Maybe is worth sharing the CSS with you? I made it look a lot more simple. Where can I share my work?

And I too use the checkbox at times.

Barely noticed it was there, thanks in part to using a light background color. Is it only there for a batch delete function? If so, I doubt I'll ever need it, especially being the only user on a private instance.

@Wilhelm I'm using the checkbox every time im reading my timeline a lot and deleting posts, I don't want to read a second time or find again.

Thanks so much for your feedback. Many valid use-cases were brought up so the checkbox probably is a keeper.
